I think Fergie and co. will have watched enough of de Gea to make this signing as risk-free as possible. Every signing carries a risk, and de Gea will definitely take time to adapt and mature. But he's clearly gifted. At this stage he's still early in his development, so teams will look to target things like his cross handling, his strength and his decision making. Big test for both United and Fergie.

I wonder if Young's arrival will see Nani depart? Hope not but it would mean we have Giggs, Young, Nani and Valencia as genuine wide players.

Surely that will only be the case for another season.

Fergie spoke tonight about VDS composure being a big part of his game and reckons De Gea has the same qualities. It's definately a gamble but I always think signing a keeper is.

That's assuming Giggs will only play one more season. Still that's four players to keep happy which will be tough, Giggs won't mind missing games but the other three will want regular football. Plus there is Park who can be added to that list.

Really can't see why United would want Young. Antonio Valencia has been sensational since his return from injury.

They could do with a genuine central midfielder rather more than another winger one would think.

I agree 100%. Never been overly impressed with Young to be honest.
At least it means they are willing to spend some proper money for once. Maybe they've found the Naldo money at long last!!

Me: I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.

knockersbumpMKII: Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm

Crisp thief writes off United.

"If Barca turn up, they win". I think he is exagerating a little bit although clearly, Barcelona are overwhelming favourites.

Giggs is more of a central player nowadays and Park only plays in the massive games. I think Young would be a decent signing, would also like Charlie Adam.

He'd also fit well into our counter attacking away from home with his pace and you make a good point about Giggs.

I would expect United to win 3 times out of 10 rather than just once or twice.
