Don't agree with that. Hart was farmed out to Birmingham and the club signed Shay Given. Looking like a Ben Foster type exit. It was only his sparkling form at Birmingham that made City have a rethink. How come you never posted about City before the FA cup run last year? Honest question. Only used to have DD, EE and Cibaman prior to that. Tend to provide a decent view the majority of times.

I'd imagine it's the same reason he's appeared in the NFL thread this year
enjoying the fresh air, moors and beaches of devon and cornwall

Any 'keeper should be stopping that 2nd goal. Absolutely horrible defeat yesterday, despise losing to the Kopites. But, we move on. Listening to it on Radio City Liverpool is always an experience, John Aldridge seemed really pleased that Evra made the mistake for Kuyt's goal; ''It's Evra's mistake which has led to that goal, and i'm absolutely delighted about that'... obviously part of 'Team Suarez' then, Aldo? Typical scouse bilge from a total prink.
Other than that, well done Liverpool, classic case of 'take your chances'
aldo wasnt the only fan who was happy that evra fooked up. karma.
seems its mancs that spout bilge too.aldo is a LFC fan, why wouldnt he be happy about him fooking up, nowt to do with luis. would be the same reaction pre luis and you know it too matey boy. you just trying to stir mischief, but then again typical manc bilge from a total prink(?)

....'Karma' for what exactly??.....
I'm guessing this is another not-so- well veiled attempt from a Liverpool fan to say that Luis is whiter-than white, Evra is a liar and that Liverpool are the most victimised club in World Football?....

Not from where I was sat it wasn't. The reason why he was farmed out was to get the experience I just mentioned. Given was brought in as a stop gap whilst Hart developed but Hart's development was so stratospheric (thanks to his stint at Birmingham) that it forced the question earlier than expected. I thought that was common knowledge?

Perhaps that's just your perception of things. I've been on the football threads for quite a while even winning the predictions comp in 06 or 07 (one of the two) but have probably been a bit more prolific this year as I've had a bit more time on my hands this past year (with not being in work). I still rarely comment about City though. Pretty sure that most of my comments tend to be in response to overly dramatic descriptions of events or players that occasionally surface on here e.g. conspiracy theories, Torres is amazing, Darren Fletcher > Zidane etc., that sort of silliness. By all means have a look back as I imagine most of our 'discussions' have arisen out of something from that last sentence lol.

Yeah, Shay Given was a stop gap signing. It was evident in the four and a half year deal he was given. Hart fully earned his place, no doubt about that. But before his injury, Given was the true number one. Once Hart got a sniff, he took his chance. Kasper was there as well at the time. Both had been given a go.

Evident? How is that conclusive? A four and a half year deal could just as likely have been a necessary concession to secure Given's service.

He was the No.1 at the time aye. Quick question. Why do you think City bought Hart when they did? (he was 19). Don't you think that's it's possible that they might have regarded him as an investment for the future? When Hart came back from being on loan he beat out the Icelandic guy (who was pretty reasonable himself) to get the number one spot. He got his chance then, the club saw that he needed a bit more experience (as I've said three times now) so they went for a veteran presence whilst Hart went to learn his trade. Again he returned and came back a better keeper, good enough to keep Given out and let the club release him.
I can only assume you didn't see him at that younger age because he looked as if he had something about him then. I've seen enough young keepers coming through to see one who stands out because it doesn't happen that often in any sport. He looks to me like we've landed the best English goalkeeper since Clemence, possibly since Banks, and yes I saying that there was a twinkle there when I first saw him play which suggest he had the potential to break that tradition of poop goalies we've developed (Nigel Martyn excepted). I know he isn't there yet but the signs are more promising than with any other young English goalies that I've seen in my lifetime. Perhaps someone can help me out with somebody who showed the same amount of promise?

Yes.

He was pretty much irrelevant once we saw what Hart could do, hence him dropping to third choice quite quickly.

Okay, you've convinced me. Shay Given was a stop gap signing at 32 years of age and his 4 year deal.. Prime age for a keeper. It's clear as crystal now.
