I appreciate what you are saying Robbie, but I just think giving him 6 months to mope around, sulk and play like he has for the majority of the last 12 months won't do anyone any favours. Clubs won't panic in the summer, they'll try to drag the price down by spending the coming months tapping him up and he'll know which club he wants to go to before the window reopens. Trying to do a deal now could mean clubs like Chelsea,who are in danger of not competing this season, Real who are lacking quality up front and City who would bid just because they like to show off, throw in a crazy bid. Chelsea have already had a £53m bid turned down in this window so they could obviously go that high. I'm sure they wouldn't think twice about another £10m on top of that for Torres.

You could transform the squad with that kind of money in the summer.

To heap praise on Dalglish for the club signing Suarez is stupid. Hardly spotted a player nobody knew anything about. Liverpool have a need for a striker and Suarez available.

when Pat Jennings & Sol Campbell to name but a couple of examples returned to WHL whilst playing for the Gooners they were received with a mixture of respect & bitterness which seems a normal reaction to me cos' they were great players - don't know about Torres tho' - don't think he'll go down as a LFC legend so it will probably be just bitterness...

I'd be surprised if City bid for Torres now. Dzeko was signed because it was fairly clear how he would fit into the team and he met an obvious need for someone to hold the ball up front. Bringing in Torres now would just upset the applecart. The only players that we should be looking to bring in would be players that would slot straight into the team eg an attacking right back. We need continuity and a settled team more than new players.

I could see us making a bid for Torrres, but more likely as a replacement for Tevez in the summer.
