i assume as you are so clued up on libel, that you can back up that, which is hugely ironic given how much the stories changed coming out of klanfield.

suarez, kuyt, comolli all changing their statements

Maybe not. But I reckon he will play at Anfield. Why exactly would he be scared of playing their?

At 0-3 I really expected United to match or surpass the 1-6. Which, as a City fan, would have permanently taken the gloss off of that result. And would have been a huge setback for the team.

Its not that hard to live with 2-3, particularly with the benefit of a feeling of injustice, even if not justified. I've never seen as many smiling faces leaving City after a defeat, incredible that it was a loss against United.

Out of the cup which is a shame (the Bulls are at the Broncos the day after the cup final so would have made a top weekend) but I think the second half could end up being a major positive for our title challenge.

it was a weird one, but i think you summed it up, at 0-3 a tonking was on, at 1-3 if the other pelanty was given 1-6 was possibly on. uniteds confidence looks fragile, they were either good or awful (does jones have a sh/t twin?), Aguero did an amazing shift up top on his own.

It'll be interesting to see how Liverpool deal with this if he's convicted of anything. Another case where they can protest the innocence of their player, but will they behave differently because it's Downing and he's terrible? Could maybe just accelerate his departure from Anfield rather than publically supporing him even after a guilty verdict this time?

Any excuse for Downing not to play is a good excuse in my book. Just kidding. Let's hope this is another Gerrard where people are trying to blame Stewart for the behaviour of his mates

Would be easy to stick the knife in but from what I've heard this has been blown out of all proportion and the press see Downing as easy meat after recent events involving Liverpool.

Besides, if the Oldham fans sung you're just a town full of racists, and Liverpool replied with the Suarez song, that's just typical football fans exchanging songs. When United fans sing without killing anyone, and Liverpool fans sing five times, they're not revelling in the Heysel disaster, they're exchanging songs as football fans always do.

Indeed but come on, why did they start singing that at the time? Apparently it isn't a song they sang at any other point of the match (according to an Oldham fan at the game) - just at the time of the Adeyemi incident - the footage then has the Liverpool fans starting to sing the Suarez song in response. I am not suggesting all of the thousands who joined in with it are racists, or were singing it for any such reason - but at best it's just a very crass response to the song the Oldham fans started to sing when the Adeyemi thing kicked off.

Depends on a few things really. Physically hitting someone is much easier to prove than an alleged conversation that nobody seen or heard. If Downing's bird has a black eye or a bruised jaw, then what could his defence be? If there's nothing wrong with her and it's been blown out of proportion, you'll probably see his name cleared in a couple of days. It's not great timing, but you can trust that the police would be able to handle it quite well without things being blown out of proportion. If it's proven, well, he'll deserve what he gets.
