Has it really become this low? A fan, possibly two fans, hurl abuse at a player on the pitch, allegedly racial, allegedly not. A stand of thousands, probably oblivious to what's been said further down the stand or what's going on, start to sing a song for a player, like they do throughout the game, and people are trying to allude to darker things? Get a grip. Pathetic.
A black player (one of the most laid back, calm players I've ever seen at that) suddenly loses his rag and goes charging towards fans in a stand and there's an altercation - it doesn't take a rocket scientist to twig what "might" have gone on.
The Oldham fans, down at the other end of the stadium, seem to have been able to deduce what "might" have happened as before the Suarez song strikes up they start singing "you're just a town full of racists" - though again they may have just randomly decided to start singing that at this point.

I completely 'get' what might have gone on, but linking that to a stand singing a song about a player is absolutely pathetic. Our fans will have sung the Suarez song numerous times before, during and after the game, it is in absolutely no way related to the alleged actions of the two fans. I don't get what the objection to the Suarez song is, because one/two fans allegedly you "you f***ing b***k b***ard", something barely anybody in the Kop stand will have heard, you seem to allude that because a stand sings a song supporting a player who's currently under the spotlight for racism, that the stand is almost revelling in the alleged racism and is goading the black player? That's how it seems to me Asim, or maybe you're unintentionally alluding to things for the sake of baiting?
Besides, if the Oldham fans sung you're just a town full of racists, and Liverpool replied with the Suarez song, that's just typical football fans exchanging songs. When United fans sing without killing anyone, and Liverpool fans sing five times, they're not revelling in the Heysel disaster, they're exchanging songs as football fans always do.

Probably best if you don't go down that path Robbie.
I did point out in my original post that Rooney is just an example and is certainly not the only guilty party.
yes of course DSM - apololgies, point taken - Rooney is the rule and not the exception since pro football began unfortunately with the increase player power the situation has become more exagerrated and paints the modern day pro as even bigger money grabbing barstewards than before...
Me: I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.
knockersbumpMKII: Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm
There were 39,000 Liverpool fans inside Anfield last night, yet it's the actions of what appears to be 2 mindless idiots that occupy the press.
I know but as long as Dalglish and Suarez keep saying and doing stupid things, the press will keep writing about it.
There's lots of Liverpool fans behaving like utter cretins around this subject but it is important to remember that there is a significant proportion that are not. It's easy to tarr them all with the same brush but it's wrong.
Probably best if you don't go down that path Robbie.
I just don't get it. I wonder how many people who say things like that have ever been to a Liverpool game, or stood on the Kop end? Songs always start from the back of the stand, always, it's where the singing 'minority' stand and try to sing for long spells of the game. When you see the video, the young lad gets upset, he reacts, Oldham fans instantly begin to goad Liverpool fans when they have little clue as to what's going on, Liverpool fans react by supporting Suarez. For me, I just don't believe that a stand of thousands of people will have even had the understanding as to what was going on at that point. Basically, I feel the Suarez song was in response to what the Oldham fans were singing, not in response to what was going on on the pitch. Anybody that watches Liverpool games will tell you our fans are generally sympathetic with things that happen on the pitch, just the other week when Anton Ferdinand went off injured, he was applauded by the ground because he was playing well. It's easy for people to make the assumption, but I don't believe for one minute that the song was being sung in response to the Oldham player's actions, more in response to the Oldham fans, which is the way it is in pretty much every football game.
If racist comments have been made by Liverpool fans I do have to question the attitude of Dalglish and the club over the Suarez affair, their attitudes have not helped.
I don't believe Suarez is a racist but he he made a racist remark. Why not just apologise and state the cultural differences? That way the matter is closed quickly and I reckon the ban ends up at 2/3 matches. Now he is being held up as a hero for the remarks he made.
I do worry what the Utd/Liverpool match will bring. I can see something kicking off between fans the way things are going.
You never will, that's the thing. It's a Liverpool player, so he's unable to do wrong. You supported him before the investigation, during it and after, when it was as clear as day from the start he was in the wrong, whether he meant it maliciously or not.
As mentioned above by Paul M the whole affair is unsavoury and reflects very poorly on Liverpool. The club's handling of the issue has been awful, Dalgleish's stance has been awful and the 'Free Suarez' reaction from the fans is absolutely pathetic.
Liverpool as a club need to grow up and act more professionally going forward. It's fans need to accept Suarez was in the wrong and stop the pathetic pro-Suarez chanting.

It won't. They tend to be cowards in the ground. As you walk past the away end outside you can here the rat munching wankers singing munich songs on the concourse, they usually have blow up aeroplanes as well. Don't tend to sing much at all when they get in the stadium. Get the odd knob doing plane impressions but that's about it. United have already started singing "Racist b+stard" to the same tune of the Suarez song. Will ve lively that's for sure, segregation is generally quite good at OT.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Suarez. The only way Suarez is involved in this is because there was a song that fans chanted that included his name. It's nothing to do with the case, or whatever, yet you still persistently thrust your opinion out there as though people take notice. You're an emotional ar*ehole who goes on bitter tirade after tirade, everything you write is exaggerated nonsense with the aim of provoking. Not only are you clueless and ignorant, but you go looking for arguments with people when the situation doesn't even warrant it.
Our fans don't have to accept anything, why should they? Because you said so? Because the posters on RLFans said so? Because Oliver Holt said so? Where would we be as human beings right now if we all just lay down and accepted what came at us? To be defiant is a human trait, whether you agree with it or not is debatable, but to tell people to accept something when their opinion is the polar opposite of what they're being asked to accept is the epitome of arrogance. The entirety of the case is completely opinion based, even the facts are open to interpretation, so why you seem to think your opinion matters above all is absolutely astounding.
