yeh,just about the furthest team to follow - it use to be a six/seven hour trek to KR from the most easterly point in the UK !
my mum and eldest brother (born in 1939) were living in Great Yarmouth which was a front-line town for the german bombers and so were evacuated to Saint Helens (Pinfold Farm,Ecclestone) for the duration of the war.We re-visited the family she stayed with in the 60s and paid my first visit to the fair town and was hooked on the RL team from that moment.
Anyway,i'm glad she was evacuated to St Helens & not Workington,for example !!!!!
