Selection as part of a team sport like soccer is, always has been and always will be subjective and providing there's no obvious gender discrimination, as "well you're good love but you're a bird", then any action would probably fail.
Individual performances are more able to be measured objectively, so sports like golf or horse racing would be on a sticky wicket
