Yes.

What is disappointing is that several of us have typed out quite lengthy reasons and logic as to why Suarez has picked up a ban and yet people on here are still arguing about it. Please go back and re-read what several of us have put before trying to cloud things over by saying it's a cultural misunderstanding or a failure of our culture to recognise differences. It is not. Racism is unacceptable. It is against human nature, therefore it is not morally relative i.e. no society can deem it acceptable without invoking a belief which is contrary to human existence.

Its the reaction of the club that has polarised the issue so much. They've turned it into a Suarez v Evra, Liverpool v Man Utd contest.

The most objectionable part of this saga is the way that LFC have tried to make Evra the bad guy. It doesnt seem to be disputed that, in the middle of a typical football barney, Suarez chose to refer to Evra by the colour of his skin. Whatever the culture is in Uruguay, Evra had an absolute right to take offence at that. And shouldnt be villified because he did.

Evra didn't just accuse Suarez that day, he also accused Mariner of only booking him because he was black.

So when is Mariner going to be investigated and charged?

Its a good article and sums the whole thing up well.....However, reading the comments at the bottom of the page, those Liverpool fans really are wound up, aren't they??....

Can't still believe they are using the 'affectionate term' and cultural difference' argument after all this time?...

How do you know there's no evidence to support the allegation?

If there is no evidence to support the allegation, if there was no reason for the allegation to be made, then shouldn't steps be taken to ensure that people aren't incorrectly accused of such an offence?
