You don't care that he wanted to play for another club, a direct rival?
From Football365. I don't follow much transfer speculation, but I remember this from Twitcher:
Beyond death, taxes and England being a constant crushing disappointment, there are a couple of things you can be sure of this summer.
One is the remarkable speed at which the transfer market operates, and the other is Harry Redknapp's insistence that when a Spurs transfer goes wrong, it ain't his fault, guv.
Both of those things were clear in his reaction to Joe Cole's decision to move to Liverpool, rather than Tottenham.
"I spoke to him a month ago and I thought he was coming here," top-topped 'Arry on Thursday.
"He wanted to come to Tottenham. He had made his mind up - I had no doubt about that."
Weird. We distinctly remember 'Arry saying in June that Spurs had no chance of bagging the boy.
Oh - that's right - he did, telling BBC Radio 5Live: "It looks to me someone's going to make a great free transfer, if he doesn't stay at Chelsea.
"I genuinely don't know who that is. I don't think it's going to be Tottenham." Tottenham in "nearly signing a player" shocker!!! They'll never change, the sad, deluded fools. Hopefully Redknap will get the Citeh job when Mancini fails and Redknapp and Cook can be the world's funniest comedy duo.
Fair enough, but wouldn't sit too easy with me... till he started banging them in for us
Modern football must drive you crazy then if you can't accept players' doing what is in their best interest when deals are being made.
