The fact that they are so strong, and yet still managed to get knocked out of the Champions League at the group stages, suggests that there is a good reason for the doubts.
I think both us and United have been doubted a great deal over the past few years, and we've both gone on to take the title, we've both been finalists of the CL and United have gone on to win it as well. So it's not as though doubts haven't been voiced about other strong sides.

I agree with you but I was referring only to the title. I saw today that City have reached 50 top-flight goals after 16 games, the fastest team to reach this figure since Spurs in 62/63. All three sides to have accrued 40+ points from their first 16 PL games have gone on to win the league; United 93/94, 06/07 and you men in 05/06. While City may have been naive in Europe, they've been outstanding domestically.

Happy days, City on 41 points, safe from relegation before Christmas.

Terrific game today.

Really enjoyed the City game, especially after the non-events of the first 2 games of the day.

City need to be careful though, defence has begun to look a little suspect recently, I'd maybe be looking to strengthen in January with a new centre half to partner Kompany.

Saying that, United with Evans at the back are an accident waiting to happen.....I can't believe that an unexpected defeat or two won't hit them in the new year if they have to continue with him in the back four.

United have picked up 5 more points than at the same stage last year so its not really surprising that its still tight at the top.

I agree that a partner for Kompany should be our next priority but would be very surprised if we signed one in January. Don't think there's one available that is demonstrably better than Lescott or Toure, who havent been that bad.

Spurs V Chelsea on Thursday should be a belter. With their game in hand a Spurs win would put real daylight between them Chelsea, Arsenal and Liiverpool.

And so you aim towards the sky,
And you'll rise high today,
Fly away, Far away,
Far from pain....

Would typify Redknapp's embarrassingly poor transfer policy of simply signing anybody with a pulse and a pair of football boots.....12 months ago, Redknapp had a few quid in his pocket and needed to get rid of that regular itch he gets, he signs a player he didn't need and now, lo and behold, he gives him back to the club he got him from...

And the media seriously want this clown to run our national team?....

Cannot recall a team as strong as Man City being doubted as much. Record speaks for itself. Not killing off games must be a concern though. Best Premier League match of the season by a fair bit.

Yeah was probably the best game of the season so far. city seem to have attracted the 'leave early to beat the traffic' crowd that has infiltrated Old Trafford over the least few years. Home team 1-0 up, end to end action and must've been 10000 empty seats at full time. Have never understood why people leave early. :?

Its not a particulary new phenomenon at City, been that way since the move from Maine Rd.They used to show the game on the tellies around the concourse so people would watch the last few minutes on the telly in order to get away early. They've switched off the telly but now people just crowd into the backs of the stands. Must admit that if the game's effectively decided I'll head to the back of the stand during injury time, although not when its as tight as on sunday. Watching the final minutes from near the exits can save me about 25 mins getting out of the car parks.
