Not surprised by Tevez, it seems to me he has the be 'the man' all the time and any slight thing that he does not like he spits his dummy out.

Citeh have come out and slagged off Tevez's advisor for trying to get him a move when previously they were angling for more money and a longer deal. That's probably come directly from Cook, so that might be why Tevez dislikes him so much.

Agreed. I cannot see any other reason why Cook would have any other contact with Tevez. Cook does not get involved in the football side. He was involved in transfers but that now sits with Brian Marwood.

Another thing Citeh said was that Tevez was trying to sign a new deal mid-season, which seems to be against Citeh policy. That again would be something that Cook has responsibility for. If they're wanting an even more ridiculous amount of money and Cook's the one telling them to get lost then again Cook will be the bad man.

There's also the fact that Cook will rightly be regarded as a muppet by many fans. Twisting the knife a bit further might make his position weaker. That way they might get a better deal from Cook or get him fired with someone weaker to deal with in the future.

Indeed. Very perceptive. Joorabchian knows that Mancini’s position is very strong, so there would be no mileage in trying to put any blame on the Italian. However, Garry Cook would not win a popularity contest in the national media (unless it was ironically against Kia Joorabchian), so it looks like he is being blamed along with Marwood.

If you had heard Mancini in the last couple of weeks, you may have picked up a few digs aimed at Tevez. For example, against Bolton Tevez scored but he was poor. He wasted a number of openings when it would have been better to pass and his finishing wasn’t great either. Mancini said, after the game, something along the lines of (in general), “There was too much selfishness. If I had played, I would have scored two or three”.

Tevez is a nomad. I felt he would stay no longer than two years (he’s been at the club 1.5 years). He will be difficult to replace but thankfully we can afford to sign another player of a similar quality, if not better. It’s hardly a ‘Paul Stewart’ situation all over again, and we can replace with better quality than dross like Valencia, Obertain and Owen. He has been great for us, no denying it, and I am sure he will admit Mancini got more out of him than Hughes and Ferguson ever did but if he isn’t happy then he should go. I cannot see City fans accepting him if he comes back, unlike the fickle Rags who now once again go to bed dreaming about Rooney each night.

City fans have to understand that this kind of behaviour comes with the territory of throwing big money at players and no CL / PL challenge. I am sure it will happen again within a couple of years.

Rumours are strong that we had pretty much tied-up the deal for Dzeko last week. However, I think our position in this potential transfer has weakened as they know they can probably squeeze more out of us because of the Tevez situation.

Regardless of what people think about Garry ‘Embarrassing Uncle’ Cook, he is excellent at what he does. He has doubled the club’s income (I hate talking about things like this because as a fan I am not interested in that aspect of football…) in around 2 years and the fans have benefitted a great deal from his stewardship – including the building of City Square and the best website you could possibly find (know that they have sorted out the ‘shop’ and ‘away tickets’ section).

Six United references in a post about Manchester City. That's impressive, even by your own obsessive standards.

Me: I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.

knockersbumpMKII: Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm

I hope you're a bit more cheerful around the kids this Christmas, you miserable sod. And if I'm small time, does that make you 'big time'? Don't take life so seriously, you'll never make it out alive.

And as for United fans being obsessed about city, coming as it does from you, you'll forgive me if I treat it with the contempt it deserves.

Our problem is that we will need at least a couple of new strikers. Santa Cruz and Adebayor clearly do not fit in Mancini's plans and are likely to leave. I'm not sure whether we could recall Bellamy but even if we could I think that would be a big mistake.

Balotelli is an immense talent, but I think he's on a par with Ronaldo circa 2004/5 (to keep the United references going), not someone who at this stage in his career can be relied on week in week out.

Dzeko seems to be a must and, although he isnt in Tevez's class, would possibly better suit the shape of the team. A mega bid for Torres also would seem probable.

Its a major blow this happening mid season but the vastly improved form of Silva and Yaya Toure means that its not quite the disaster that it would have been not many weeks ago.

More or less everything that I wanted to say on the Tevez issue has been covered by others so I'll just comment on this excpet to say that if Tevez can just see his way to staying till the end of the season, I'd take that. Get us in the top four and he can bugger off.

City play a slow, possession based football, one that suits fluid movement in the forward three. Tevez was almost perfect for the way we play the game. Edin Dzeko is a target man, a big lad who gets on the end of crosses and set pieces. Whilst Kolarov may finally offer us some service in that department, one thing is for sure, we are not going to compromise our style of football just because we have a target man.

I just don't think Dzeko will fit into our style one bit. He'd be a smash hit at Everton. He'll end up being a Steve Daley at our gaff.
