Didn't they appoint Hughes in the first place? (I'll let them off if that was Sinatra - I can't remember) And sign Robinho? And try and embarassingly fail to sign Terry for ludicrous money? And humiliatingly and disastrously agree to every one of Kaka's comedy contract conditions when he clearly never had the slightest intention of signing anyway? Football nouse? I hardly think so...
Woe betide Mancini if City have a hiccup next season - he'll have no more life expectancy than a Chelsea manager....

| My take on yesterday.
Disappointed that a North West club couldn't get back to the Prem. Ho hum.
However, manager-wise, It's like picking between drowning and electrocution, as your "prefered" choice of death. Both are ####ers of the highest order.
Happy for Chelsea's success. Well done.
More laughable letters on Skysports text pages today, whinging on how "they've bought success". WAKE UP. It's been happening since football became professional. FACT. I heard an Arsenal fan on Talk5hite this week, who said that his team bought success in the 1930's. Truth that money buys everything, no matter what era it's been done.
John Terry. What a bell. He let his mates down, by getting himself sent off in the semi.
I can just imagine him in a Chelsea training session 3 weeks ago, saying "If we win, I don't give a fack who's in charge, I'M IN ON THAT CELEBRATION, AND FACK THE LOT OF YA." Learn some dignity....sorry, incapable of that. He's his mum and dad's boy, that one.
Penalties. They're here to stay. Deal with it. There isn't a better way to deal with the situation. What aplayers expected to do? Play for 3 hours until someone scores? Penalties are part of the game.

| Quote Northampton_Saint="Northampton_Saint"I honestly can't imagine what it must be like being a City or Chelsea fan, I really can't - it must be like having some guy break into your house, redecorate everything, replace all your possessions with some admittedly very nice paintings and then refuse to ever leave. Nightmarish.'"
Says a supporter of a rugby union club???
How did you cope when RU went from shamateur to professional? Or are you a new RU fan who doesn't know what the hell I'm talking about?
I've been a Chelsea fan in the second division, with a Richard Head of an owner who found fights in an empty room. I've seen my club struggle with finances while other clubs have had success spending money. I've seen a supposed fan come in and offer to spend money, but later found out he was only there for what he could take.
I've seen my club transformed because of a change of investment strategy. We went from austerity to a club who transformed themselves because they decided to invest in expensive, but ageing foreign superstars. Awesome players like Ruud Gullit, Gianluca Vialli, Gianfranco Zola, Roberto Di Matteo were brought in and they changed the club completely.
But we also needed to spend to transform the stadium. And with the continued investment, pushing us to a 3rd place finish in 98/99.
Having gone from a club winning nothing, we picked up a couple of FA Cups and a League Cup. We qualified for the CL and went toe to toe with AC Milan and Barcelona. Absolutely mind blowing times.
And we pushed for a place in the Champions League, which we got by beating Liverpool in the last game of the season.
But that was supposedly a massively risky bet. If we didn't qualify for the CL we were lead to believe we were at risk of becoming the next Leeds United or Newcastle. And so when a Russian billionaire came knocking to see if the club was for sale, the club was sold.
And I have absolutely loved what the club has been through since Roman bought the club. Oppo fans can say our titles and cups are worthless, but **** them, I could care less about their worthless opinions. When a fake geordie tries to tell me that the success that Chelsea have won is merely bought and means nothing, I know the ****er doesn't know what he's talking about - because Newcastle have won **** all, bought or not. You can't tell other people how they should feel about trophies when you've never won anything.
To me, Roman Abramovich is a Chelsea legend. I love the guy. He's made mistakes, but so has everyone. But because of Roman, Chelsea are the CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE, and I never thought I'd see that.

The Sheikh and Khaldoon bought Robinho (less than 24 hours to go, before the window closed), and bidded for Terry/Kaka, as a statement of intent to everyone else. They knew they'd get knock-backs along the way, particularly with Hughes as manager, along the way. It was clearly part of the builing process. Rome wasn't built in a day.
Mancini is a FANTASTIC manager. He's proved it since the day he moved into management. Last May was just the start.

The whole squad were there in their kits. A major part of what got us the CL was the fact that pretty much the whole team played their part.
I'd much rather see Ivanovic, Terry, Hilario, the kit man, Eva, all going mental in celebration than seeing all the suspended players doing a Keane and acting like the world had ended, all because they didn't play the part they wanted.

Sorry, LGJM, you can spin it any way you want.
Now. I missed last night, as I was working (so forgive me if I'm wrong), but I'm reading from your text, that the rest of the banned players also turned up for the ceremony. [u HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION[/u. If Terry hadn't have been banned, do you honestly think that the other banned players would have been called-up for the trophy presentation??? NAH , don't think so. And in your own mind, you don't either, do you!

I think every Chelsea fan and player loved it that JT went up to lift the cup. He's been an absolutely brilliant player and a brilliant captain for us.
If Ramires had been the only player who was banned, and we'd won the CL, then I think he would have been included heavily, simply because it was his goal that got us through at the Nou Camp.
But with JT being the captain, missing a decisive penalty in Moscow and edging close to the end of his career, it was obvious that him missing the final was the biggest story. I'm glad him and Lampard went up to lift the cup together, I think nearly everyone associated with the club loved it.
It's oppo fans who are putting the spin on it. **** you. It had nothing to do with you. Just as oppo fans opinions on Mancini, Ballotelli and Tevez are worthless to you, your opinion on JT is worthless to us.

| Not sure why everybody is falling out, most teams that gain success buys players in to obtain it...and in the odd exception (like Ajax in 95) they get picked off by richer clubs when they achieve it?.
Also didn't win Man City & Chelsea win European trophies in the past before they were bankrolled by billionaires?

| The fact that Terry got banned, nearly cost them the semi and nearly cost them the final by being banned, should really have told John to not lap up the celebrations as much as others. But, as expected, everything's about him, just like he had to take the penalty in Moscow, he had to get kitted up and lift the cup when so many people deserved it more. Look at Barca last year when they let Abidal lift it, somebody that deserved it that pulled through illness, not cowards like Terry who knee oppo players in the back then try and claim innocence.

No Roddy
to quote St John of Terry himself, in the aftermatch interview with Jeff Shreeves "I'm not that kind of player"
That line alone, was funnier than a 6 hour non-stop Ken Dodd marathon of quickfire gags.
Terry is a self obsessed prick of the highest order.
As I said. Well done Chelsea.
