Or the stunning success of Celtic Warriors - the disappearing fifth "superclub" that went belly up in 2004.

I gave up a while back. Once I was 'outed' as a rugby league supporter it became virtually impossible to have a decent debate.
The ignorance (majority not total) on ScrumV is worryingly plentiful.

I don't understand what makes Gareth Thomas a hypocrite. (Would love him at Wakefield, if only he'd switched sooner.)

There are quite a few union forums taking the p155 out of Crusaders big time.

Check out planet rugby forum and see what the to55ers are saying on there.

And I thought it was only league fans who, huge chip on shoulder, disliked t'other code.
I haven't been on Planet Rugby since Christmas 2009. It's a shame to see so many people happy to see a club go under.

There are quite a few RL fans on planet rugby but there are quite a few who hate RL with a passion, especially Aussie union fans.

Of the RL fans on that website Gort is always having a go at union and is usually pretty funny with it.

P.S

Catalancs is your first sentence referring to me or what. :)

Not at all cj ;)
My personal favourite wind-up merchant was Dutoni. He floated about on Planet Rugby and a few rugby league forums. Erich Hartman was also good for a laugh.

Fair do's mate. :SHIFTY:

Dutoni I haven't seen for ages whereas Erich Hartman still comes on here occasionally but I haven't seen him for a while either.

We should start a list for the best and worst trolls for both codes,it should be a very long list. :)

Got an email from a mate who works for the RFU about the rugby union world cup last week and it got me thinking about what bets I'll be putting on. Did a bit of research and some found some surprising things.
Fiji are struggling big time. After their outstanding performances last tournament this world cup things might be a little harder for them as the cash-strapped islanders are still struggling to find a sponsor, not to mention the ongoing troubles surrounding travel bans imposed on a handful of their players due to their links to the military government. No five-star hotels for the Fijians then.

All those Kiwis who aren't excited about the World Cup. I couldn't believe the story when I first read it. A nationwide online poll found only 37% of New Zealanders were looking forward to the tournament, 35% were not and the remainder had no feelings either way. Eh? Something seems amiss. If the recent soccer world cup - when die-hard saffa round-ball haters were turned into vuvuzela blowers overnight - is anything to go by, the numbers should grow exponentially once the tournament kicks off. If not it could get very embarrassing for all involved.

By the way, anyone who saw the Samoa game, how overrated is Matt Giteau?

The news of Crusaders' troubles is hitting hard over on the ScrumV union forum.

'Run and wriggle has NO fan base what so ever. They try every few years and fail dismally every few years. People simply aren't interested in a cut down lobotomised version of a sport they actually enjoy. Its failed many times before and it will fail again.
The numbers speak for themselves - its just not a popular sport by any stretch of the imagination. Nobody will give a toss if the latest tackle 'n' twitch crap fails. The vast majority wouldn't even have heard of them in the first place!'

'Like most fickle fads it doesnt last 5 minutes. all that fancy fast loose talk about franchises and league academy to usurp union. what a load of marketing man drivel. oh well at least that hypocrite alfie will get a movie deal out of it.'

'I like RL but there just isn't the space for it in Wales.'

'Rugby League in Europe is a game that only interests the population of a few counties in north England. I dont think the Crusaders get much of a following, neither Catalans Dragons or Harlequins RL.'

'And yet another attempt at introducing Rugby League to the rugby union audiences of the South and football audiences of the North results in it's inevitable failure. I'm not one to say I told you so but...'

Sounds like most of those were written by league lover Jones from the Sunday Times.

Or they're views that have been swallowed and regurgitated. Either way it's depressingly blinkered and ignorant.
