And so you aim towards the sky,
And you'll rise high today,
Fly away, Far away,
Far from pain....

Andy Carroll in the England squad???.....

However, after looking a total donkey under Dalglish's custody, wouldn't it be hilarious if Hodgson managed to get him actually looking half decent??....It would make a few Kenny-loving/Roy-hating kopites look awfully silly....

What about if our next appointment was AVB, what would your reaction be then?

I'd be happy with that.

There would be a doubt in my mind that he has learned from his experience at Chelsea, doesn't make the same screw ups and makes a success of at it at Liverpool.

But it's a risk I'd take.

I think being an an CFC manager, and ex CFC assistant manager, would mean LFC gave him very few chances. Probably as much chance as he had with us. I think that pressure would be too much on him.

Personally I think LFC would be way to big for him right now, just like the CFC job was. He needs to go to a mid-table Spanish or Portuguese club and rebuild his career again. I honestly hope he does that. But if he went to Liverpool I think he'd fail and kill his career.

My dream appointment would be Kevin Keegan. That would be brilliant. I'd love it, love it if they did that.

Surely Liverpool would be better off looking at Brendan Rodgers rather than Martinez?

I don't think they'll look at either tbh.

Thank the stars that a bit of common sense has prevailed. Unfortunately none of the names mentioned as in the running to take over exactly fills me with joy... I mean, Martinez... or Rafa Benitez again FFS... Throw a big wedge of cash in Mourinho's direction or give Moyes the opportunity he's been waiting for for so long to manage a top football club and I'll be happy.

I think that it's a massively difficult job. I think it's a difficult appointment. I don't think there's many obvious candidates, and the situation at Liverpool means that they'll struggle to bring in an ideal man, because he'll be getting better offers.

I think they are in a similar situation to us. We're both at a crossroads as clubs. But us having Roman means the money will be there to correct mistakes and invest in players. LFC don't have the same options, so the pressure on them to make this appointment right makes the decision all the more intense.

I think Rodgers suffers from the same problem AVB did. Yes, AVB had fantastic success at Porto, but the success was so brief that it will be forgotten if he runs in to serious problems.

Rodgers success at Swansea isn't enough to earn him the Liverpool job, IMO. If he keeps Swansea mid table, playing good football for a couple of years and picks up a couple of top 4 scalps then he'll get a chance. But I don't think what he's done so far is enough. He's just the new Phil Brown, or Owen Coyle ATM. But Swansea could go straight back down next season.

There is a chance though that he could be great. But I don't think it's a risk LFC can take.

Yeah, he's going to leave Real Madrid, managing Cristiano Ronaldo, to go to Liverpool and manage Andy Carroll.

There was a time I truly dreaded Mourinho going to Liverpool. My worst nightmare. But that nightmare has passed.

Not a fan of appointing people who already manage in the league, purely because I think the step up to Liverpool manager will be too big for most.

I'm a big fan of importing coaches with different methods and ideas. I know some people ridicule Liverpool, but I imagine we're still an attractive proposition to a lot of managers around the world, especially if the owners make money available. I'd love somebody like Marcelo Bielsa or Jurgen Klopp, but Klopp is easily out of our league.

My perfect appointment would be Joachim Low, but whether he's leaving Germany, or would even consider us, is another matter.

As for Kenny, if he won the cup he'd have been kept, they will have given him more time but you can't defend those league results, even if we did play well in a lot of games. He'll still be idolised by our fans and it won't taint his image in anyway, the man's a legend and he'll never be matched.

There's a lack of decent managers at every level of English football at the moment, with Liverpool, a top level club having no obvious candidates, the same with West Brom who are a lower half/ mid table side and Hull City a club wanting to go up next season having some horrible names like Blackwell linked with us.
