Ah, Nigel Heslop.
Famous for trying to play the hard man by hitting Serge Blanco late, then getting sparked out by one of the French forwards in retaliation...
Am I getting confused or did he get a gig on tv? I'm also pretty sure I saw him turn out for Oldham RL.
Is this the end of the Super 16 dream?

Punditry seems to be a pretty common career choice for England players of that era - Dewi Morris, Brian Moore, Stuart Barnes, Jamie Salmon, Paul Ackford (albeit in the written media rather than TV), Jeremy Guscott etc.
He did move to Oldham in 1993, but I can't remember how long he lasted.

Till he heard Batley had signed a tighthead prop and Swinton an openside flanker from French union

Just going back through some articles online from the time he switched codes, he went to Oldham on an incentives only contract rather than the big signing fees that some Union converts attracted - this is despite playing for England less than 12 months earlier.
I suppose the equivalent these days (given Oldham were in the second tier at the time) would be Halifax signing someone like Delon Armitage.

These violent delights have violent ends
And in their triumph die, like fire and powder,
Which, as they kiss, consume.

That suddenly gives me a bizarre image of Anthony Andrews playing rugby league, holding a teddy bear in the way Puig Aubert did with a fag!

I'm sure I used to be his postman somewhere near St. Helens, if I'm ever up there again I'll mention that incident! ha ha

You must be desperate mate quoting yourself.
Anyway I will go for the Crusaders just to p155 on the Reds bonfire and not to outshine the Maroons victory over the Blues.
