I sit and watch this United side and wonder just why they are so successful. They should in theory be destroyed when you look how weak they are across midfield. Welbeck is a very important player for them, chases lost causes all game. The fact that he's utterly terrible doesn't matter when you work as hard as he does.
Its been that way since Ronaldo left, and, to be honest, you have to have a grudging admiration for the way they continue to defy the odds.
Even in the Premier League, they are arguably inferior to both Man City and Chelsea on a player by player basis, yet they are able to find a consistancy that neither of the other two sides have come close to discovering.
I've lost count of the amount of times I've watched a United game and thought they were there for the taking and somehow they come out of the other side with a favourable result..... Those who think Fergie's departure won't affect the side, might be in for a bit of surprise - I honestly think they might take a serious dip when he does go.
