My point is that if the police had done there job right 96 fans would have come home, the year before 1988 same ground same teams different police, in the ground on the terrace there was merseyside police directing fans away from the central pens once full in 1989 this did not happen.

I'm not sure it was that clear cut as after that game there were complaints Liverpool should have had the Kop end and these re-suraced when the draw for 1989 was made. I think the police insisted it stayed that way because of the road infrom the M1 meant they found it easier to house Forest fans at the Kop end.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity

Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

Who? you? back it up! then

At 3.05 when the tragedy was occurring the best estimate of numbers in the end is 9,734 against a capacity of 10,100

Ticketless fans had fcccuk all to do with it you liar.

As I put it could have been any number of clubs , so this is not a dig at Liverpool FC or it's fans

Also as I put anybody who attended such matches back then knows the score

Theft, pickpocketing, fighting, causing enough aggravation by blocking the turnstyles were all tactics used to try to gain entry to those matches by fans of all clubs

You can deny it all you like , as for proof , well that wont happen as none of the fans there that day without a ticket are going to admit it

The police officer was in a no win situation , if one fan had died outside then he would have taken the blame for it , he stated that he opened the gates because people's lives were in danger outside the ground because of the crush of people

Not at all, I was asking as you knew so much about Hillsborough thought you might know alot about that as well with it being very significant in your clubs history.

I remember watching it on TV and it was a day of shame for UEFA, Liverpool and Juventus and the fact the game went ahead after the tragedy was the biggest disgrace of all.

What a nice ceremony that was, Everton fans in attendance as well, it must be very hard for the families of those who passed to attend such things.

I took Wire 85's advice and read a bit about, seems the stadia was in a right state and the police were unable to control the violence, glad that era is gone now.

Yeah that was after he lied and said Liverpool fans and forced the gate open, as for ticketless fans I have not said that there was no ticketless fans what I am saying is its clear in the Taylor aswell that ticketless fans did not cause the crush.

It's plainly clear that Starbug is one of those people who ignores the actual Taylor report and the cold hard facts of the day when they're put in front of him. It's just oh so easy to believe the myths of thousands of scousers charging into the ground, isn't it?

No without hooliganism the police would not have had a real role to play and may not even have been in the ground. There would have been no fences and if a crush develop it'd be a case of getting over a small wall onto the pitch.

Football and its supporters made the environment, police made the mistakes on the day.

Excuse the double post, but once again, you need to look at the facts. If the police and stewards had done their job properly and if the ground had been in a fit and proper state to hold a football match then the disaster would never have happened, even with the fences.

Read the Taylor Report.
