Can't say I am surprised. Was amazed it even was suggested that a Juve legend would sign for Liverpool.

Borini looks mega-ordinary and not Prem class and Sahin looked way out of his depth IMO

Joe Allen looks the real biz tho' but won't be at LFC too long before one of the big spenders puts in a bid

Borini's 21. I think maybe it's a little early to form strong opinions on him. Sahin barely played last season and isn't up to speed yet. If you saw him for Dortmund a couple of years ago I think you'd be eating those words.

in Holland Heuralio Gomes was hailed as 'the greatest' footballer in the Eredivision - no, really worshipped as an extraordinary talent and THFC signed this superman goalie expecting the same brilliance

words can't describe how he turned out ! :DEPRESSED:

Steady on. He was adored by PSV fans. Everyone else - me included (FC Twente since you ask) - thought he was, and remains, your archetypal South American flap merchant.

I don't really understand your point. The German league is far superior to the Dutch league.

As a side note I was reading something the other day that tried to show Gomes was a deceptively good goalkeeper. Just one prone to calamitous errors. I have to say some of his shot stopping can be superb and it's more composure that lets him down. I'll have to try and find what I was reading to see how they attempted to show this, I was slightly suspicious at the time but appearances are not everything.

true the dutch league is inferior but the point is that just because someone played for a top German club doesn't make him a worldbeater in fact, I can't think of that many germans (ok, I know he's a Turkish international) that have really made an impact in the Prem - Klinsmann & Ballach maybe but otherwise not too many others of that quality ?

in fact I can think of many more dutch players who have made the Prem grade compared to germans...

The Autumn Wind is a pirate
Blustering in from sea,
With a rollocking song, he sweeps along,
Swaggering boisterously.

His face is weather beaten.
He wears a hooded sash,
With a silver hat about his head,
And a bristling black mustache.

He growls as he storms the country,
A villain big and bold.
And the trees all shake and quiver and quake,
As he robs them of their gold.

The Autumn Wind is a raider,
Pillaging just for fun.
He'll knock you 'round and upside down,
And laugh when he's conquered and won.

I agree to an extent, a good solid 7/10 player. I wouldn't have him down as doing really well in the premier league, at the same time I'd hardly say Jurgen and Ballack were amazing. Lehmann was alright at the Gooners.

Jurgen saved us from relegation so that's good enough for me
