I am starting with Macclesfield, as the lack of expectation should mean I'm given an easier ride. How do people approach the tactical side of things? Create your own (If so based on what?), copy someone elses from the internet, or just use a standard default tactic and try to improve the players?
I used the create a tactic at first, it gives a decent outline to what things are about, but I ended up manually going through every player, giving them individual mentalties, creative freedom, instructions, etc.. It gives you a good outline, but I think once you understand things and are confident enough to create your own tactics and have found set ways to make players to succeed in certain positions, then it's probably better to do things manually, but if you're uncertain, go for the create a tactic.
Really enjoying this game, my only problem, and I may sound a little bitter here, is the refereeing. I mean, I continually have players injured through challenges from their players, but I always see 5/6 of my players booked, whilst they'll have one, whilst I'll have a player stretchered off and two sat on the bench with green crosses above their heads. I know some will say well an injury doesn't warrant a booking, but do the refs give any protection to players? I continually have my top players finishing in the 60% fitness range due to continually being 'fouled' yet they are barely penalized for it.
Anyone got any good tips for defending set pieces? Seems to be the only way I concede, despite me having a fairly solid side aerially, it seems every corner/free kick I'm bricking it.
