Re: Football Chat Thread - Euro 2012 edition : Sun Aug 19, 2012 11:39 am
Everton have announced the signing of Kevin Mirallas. I must admit to being both shocked and delighted.

It's a surprising signing though, does this herald an era of new found confidence from Moyes? Are we actually going to play with Jelavic, Mirallas, Pienaar and Naismith in the same side? Or will it be a case of 1 up front and either Mirallas or Jelavic starting?

And so you aim towards the sky,
And you'll rise high today,
Fly away, Far away,
Far from pain....

Probably depends on how we start.....If we have our usual awful start then I expect Moyes to revert to his tried and trusted 4-5-1, using Feillani has his 'Cahill' with Gibson, Neville, Pienaar and Osman making up the 4 in midfield.

I don't see Naismith and Mirallas in the same team though to be honest....Think it'll be one or the other in most matches with them.

Personally, I see the strongest side as Howard- Hibbert/Neville, Heitinga, Jagielka, Baines- Osman, Feillani, Gibson, Pienaar- Naismith/Mirallas, Jelavic.....though I'd like to see at least one more right sided midfielder added to the squad.

Official approach for Adam Johnson made today according to Man City. Season long loan deal, only complication is Sunderland have put in a cash offer for him, but he prefers the move to Everton apparently.

Great start to the season for Hazard and Chelsea. I just hope Everton's season doesn't start with as much fear tomorrow.

Sorry mate, don't rate him that much, though I guess a loan deal would be relatively low risk.....Much prefer a team player like Phillips from Blackpool, who could learn the Moyes way, rather than a showboater like Johnson, who would be another Drenthe.

I don't know, but I'm hoping the advertising boards meant Manchester as opposed to Man City when they advertised the new shirt with the words "SHOW YOUR CITY"

Re: Football Chat Thread - Euro 2012 edition : Mon Aug 20, 2012 11:45 am

Gives them a clear pen when one of their players is tripped, allows an onside player to play on and score. Absolutely terrible refereeing.

The only problems with the reffing in the highlights I saw were a refusal to shoot Tevez and Nasri for their naff T shirt message celebrations.

There's a div on here who forever bangs on about England practicing pens if/when England miss a pen in a shootout. Obviously that applies to Spain as well after seeing the dreadful effort from Silva yesterday? That Spanish side will never win anything when one of their top players can't do better than that.
