and surprise surprise it looks like aresnal will pip villa for that last champions league spot
It's what you get when too much wa*king is done over a purple patch of a side like Villa. If Arsenal hadn't been so $hit / struggled with so much injuries this season, they would be clear of Villa.
I'm sure I read somewhere on Friday that United have lost a considerable number of points on the weekend after a Wednesday night Champions League game, that is a worry, especially coming up to the important stage of the season.
And there I was thinking the fixtures were rigged on your behalf so that didn't happen - or so some funny sounding bloke with a beard told me...
Played: 2 (v Everton and Blackburn)
Won: 1 (@ Blackburn 0-2)
Drawn: 1 (@ Everton 1-1)
Lost: 0
Points Dropped: 2
CL game Tuesday, PL game Sunday
Played: 1 (v City)
Won: 1 (@ City 0-1)
Drawn: 0
Lost: 0
Points Dropped: 0
Points Dropped after Tuesday games: 2 from 9
CL game Wednesday, PL game Saturday
Played: 3 (v Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool)
Won: 0
Drawn: 1 (@ Spurs 0-0)
Lost: 2 (@ Arsenal 2-1, and v Liverpool 1-4)
Points Dropped: 8
CL game Wednesday, PL game Sunday
Played: 1 (v Chelsea)
Won: 0
Drawn: 1 (@ Chelsea 1-1)
Lost: 0
Points Dropped: 2
Points Dropped after Wednesday CL game: 10 from 12
Also, after a Tuesday CL game @ Inter Milan, it was followed up on the Sunday with a 0-0 with Spurs in the Carling Cup Final.
So, all but one (v Liverpool) of our games after a Champions League game, we have played away. And in 6/8 games following a CL game we have dropped points / not won (in the case of CC Final).
A lot of teams beat us, do a lap of honour and don't stop running. They live too long on one good result. I remember Jimmy Adamson crowing after Burnley had beaten us once and that his players were in a different league. At the end of the season they were.

Why? I don't give a shiny sh!te what excuses they come up with, in fact, it makes it funnier by the minute.
Those silver shirts, he used that one to good effect didn't he. Even better that Liverpool dicked them in their own backyard, playing in all silver.
Or was it the fixture change, you know, the one the club would have to agree on, which they did, and take the money. Maybe he should boycott talking to the people who run the club and not the media.

It's not excuses, they are facts.
But you're right, selling you're soul to Sky doesn't give you the ideal preparation for a big game like on Saturday.
I personally blame the lack of roof, the Sun in Vida's eyes for Torres' fluke goal was a killer.
