POTY : Sun Sep 26, 2021 2:25 pm
So, we have to have a Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year. Would be interested to see votes?

YPOTY:
Tough call between Shorrocks and KPP for me - probably KPP edges it.
Sadly we didn't get to see Halsall as much as we probably should have.
Hanley struggled to make any sort of impact but never given a chance in his usual position.
O'Neill - god knows what happened there, constantly in and out of the side.
McDonnell played 1 game I think? Didn't look out of place.

POTY:
Honestly can't pick a clear winner. Farrell is in the Dream Team controversially I guess. Bizarrely he was probably better during a few games at centre than his usual SR position the rest of the season. He made more carries and metres than anyone else in SL except Tom Davies but generally very workhouse and little skill (familiar trait in our team these days).

I would probably pick Bibby. Ever present, most breaks in SL, decent amount of tries scored and saved a few as well.

If they have a do this year I can't imagine it being a fun filled affair, if I had to pick someone I'd go for Bibby just for the fact he played every single minute this season, extraordinary achievement

Speaks volumes doesn't it. Barely anyone you could give the award to with a straight face.

Probably Hastings or Bibby for POTY and Pearce-Paul for YPOTY.

Faz comfortably for player of the season IMO.

The young lads have been much of a muchness. All solid enough and a bit up and down as expected. I’d probably go with Shorrocks for his consistency.

I’d go for Isa as POTY
He played the vast majority of the season out of position and on occasions he showed some skills at centre that I didn’t think he had.
I also liked his spirit and he wore his heart on his sleeve particularly in the Saints game at home where got sin binned. His actions were one of frustration but think there was a bit of love for the club in there too.

YPOTY is a difficult one. I hope that next year KPP will win the award but for me this year he’s pipped by Shorrocks. There is something about Shorrocks that I like but struggle to define. I think that there is a really good rugby player within him and with the right direction it will surface.
His work rate is top notch and playing in a new role in difficult circumstances I thought were the actions of a mature guy.

Farrell POY.
KPP over Shorrocks.
Shorrocks will be a very good player and has had a good season in spite of Lam. KPP has shown that he can provide that bit of difference. His off loads are great to watch and put the team on the front foot. His defence has improved massively so my choice for YPOY.
