Wane to return next season?

What`s the verdict amongst posters on here on a Wane return? Didn`t a lot want rid of him way before he left? Would you take him over Shane Flanagan?

I’d be happy with Wane in a director of Rugby type role but not as head coach.

The problem with Shane Flanagan (or anyone like him) is that, in the unlikely event that he could be persuaded to come, everyone knows that if he was a success, he'd be straight off back to the NRL after a couple of years.

I have advocated an NRL coach/assistant but that’s a great point which I had thought of but just accepted. It doesn’t really help us as in reality what we need is stability for 4-5yrs at least, that’s one of the benefits in Peet I suppose.

The concern is though is if Peet doesn’t work out, and clearly isn’t, will IFL/Rads pill the trigger mid season? I’m drained from this season, which has at times been unbearable.

He isn’t and probably wouldn’t be a popular choice but personally I’d back Brian McDermott. He is after all SL’s most successful coach and would be here for the long haul. He’s experienced and would certainly give us that refreshment we need whilst keeping some of our back room staff.

I would have Wane back in a heart beat.

Absolute respect to Adrian Lam. As a servant to the club as both a player & coach. Love his passion for the club. Wish him every success in his career.

You mean in keeping him on until the season's end? Most sensibly minded and reasonable folk that I know wanted him gone a long while ago so we could have an end of season to look forward to. That's not going to happen now and 2021 season will come to a miserable end.

Granted, Lam may have not been the perfect choice, but some of the nastiness aimed at him, especially as a former good player has been disgraceful and uncalled for by the an element of supporters.

From I understand, even the administration staff at the club have to put up with it, both by email, telephone etc.

And have you and most of your sensibly minded and reasonable folk ever considered that if Lam was sacked during the season, he may have had a clause in his contract for severance pay if not in breach of contract which together with another contract for a replacement Coach would have added more financial woe to the club in the present uncertain times.

It has always been said that Wigan have the best and most fair minded supporters in the game but from what I have seen and heard in recent weeks, that is no longer the case in the present world of social media.

Only glad that some who come on here do not run my financial affairs!

p.s. And not winning a trophy will not be the first time as that has happed on more than one occasion in the past!

hes not, as Rads said both him and IL do the signings and bring in staff etc so in effect keep the coach out of it to coach, a DOR is a totally different job than a coach and although a great coach doesnt mean he will be a good DOR
