I think he’s a cracking player but we couldn’t afford to have two lads as important as he and Hastings only committing to a year and also missing pre season. That decision has backfired IMO, with French never looking fully fit before his bad injury but also because it felt like we rushed Field out for that first game to cover, after he himself had struggled with injury all pre season and he went down with a shocker of a hamstring issue.

It just feels like we need to start again to me. That tactic of trying to bend over backwards for those lads, to just get a years commitment out of them can’t be repeated. If players want to be here on equal terms to everyone else than great but if not than move on.

I think he's a hugely entertaining player and seems like a decent lad too. I just don't think he's the superstar that our fans make him out to be.

I'd have happily bent over backwards for Hastings as you know he's the ultimate professional. He came back from his extended break in great shape imo..

The problem this side has is that it needs those flashes of individual magic that French brings because other than that, we have very few avenues of scoring try’s. We look totally lost in attack and have done in Lams whole time here, even when we’ve been playing pretty well overall.

Without a shadow of a doubt. Lam is massively to blame for the current situation and adds more proof to what we already know - a good coach can make or break a team.

I do like to think however that, in spite of Lam, we'd still have been in a much stronger situation if we'd have signed a prop instead of resigning French. I keep harping on about it, but the Salford side that Hastings bossed, had a cr@p backline. I'd take guys like Zak, Manfredi, Smith etc over what they had. What set them apart tho, was the good work done by Mossop, Dudson and Jones. Our props our downfall imo and a guy like French is an after thought when you don't have guys to make the yards.

You put French in the Saints, Wire or Hull team and he'd have a field day. You wouldn't however swap him for a Walmsley, Satae or Wire prop imo.

The prop situation certainly needs urgent attention and Nathan Mason isn’t going to fix it. We need two others IMO and two good ones if we’re to compete at the top end next season. ‘If’ we stepped away from Williams to spend money fixing that problem instead than happy days. If it was just because we couldn’t afford it and will sign a couple of Nathan Masons, than it’s worrying times. (I should point out Mason looks a solid enough 5th/6th prop and could kick on here but he’s not going to turn this on his own).

On another note, I saw quite a bit of the London vs Swinton game today and Abbas Miski played full back. He scored a couple and set a couple up and looked a handful throughout. He could be a handy pick up by the looks of him.

We are not planning on competing at the top level next season, 2022 has been written off, It's not rocket science

how? If you mean by signings then the players signed must be on 12 months otherwise we will be writing off other season also....

We can only really judge once we know the final make up of next years squad. A few rabbits will be needed to pulled from somewhere though to have confidence we can compete at the very top.

Problem with this season is we have no pace to go round anyone, and a pack incapable of going through anyone, back that up with predictable rugby that you can read with your eyes closed, makes for a very uninspiring rest of 2021.

As for next year, unless they manage to work some kind of miracle with recruitment, it will be more of the same.

Leeds made an offer to Sezer I see. He is ok marquee money and Leeds won’t go that high apparently. I’d like to think we can get involved in that one but there’s certainly no rumours about it at the minute.

You'd like to think that we'd be looking at a player like Sezer, but who knows? It's pretty grim at the moment, any good news wouldn't hurt
