I hope I'm wrong, but I think he'll really struggle with the physicality of the backs in the NRL, and Wests are a relatively poor side, but at least he should have a better experience than if he went to somewhere like Canberra

I think he might find it difficult as well but then I thought Williams would really struggle so what do I know.

I don't think he will struggle with the physicallity if he can stay fit but I do wonder if his body will stand up to it - his injury record over recent seasons is a worry, the intensity over there is a notch higher.

It cannot be denied.

He has this season.

He’s a quality player but just seemed to be trying too hard and it really hasn’t worked in ‘21.

Don't worry, the club will no doubt re-sign him for 2023 - it's the Wigan way.

If his head was on I would hope so, he may have been poor in 21 but prior to that he’s been a top quality player.

The policy of re-signing ex players has been an unmitigated disaster and is a contributing factor to the state of the current squad - anyone who signs an ex-player in the future should be castrated. It's unbelievably lazy, yet we keep making the same mistake over and over again.

I just don't see that it's 'lazy'. Each situation has to be done on a case by case basis. Either you want the guy, or you don't. Whether he's played for Wigan before shouldn't come into it.

For the last 7 seasons?
Strange that, I thought he'd been very good for 5/6 of those

Oh, sorry, you mean last 20 games
Way to go to sum up a players whole contribution to a club.

Player leaves, certain fans blame said player for everything
Hes been very average this season, after missing pre season/first 8/9 games or so. That probably puts him in the majority then as 90% of the players have been nothing more than average under Lam for 3 years.

Agree almost 100%
I would have “wanted” Bateman to come back but we didn’t really need another lightweight back rower with poor options in the squad at centre, hooker and props.
Bateman was the wrong option at the right time so to speak to help resolve other more glaring deficiencies.
Rank bad management decision. For me a perfect example of zero planning with little or no perception of the quality or imbalance of the squad. This decision has “tied” up a huge amount of future cashlows without improving the overall quality of the squad.
