You certainly can't win them all and players have bad games. That's sport.

What I'm not having however, is the lack of learning on Lam's part. Whilst he's not the sole reason for the loss, he plays a part.

He should have learnt the lessons from last year. Instead he not only went with a light bench, but also didn't use said bench as well as he should. Leaving Bullock off was criminal.

Outside of that there's been talk about a lack of prop rotation i.e Clarke and Kilner. There was talk that not only are our props out of form and not under pressured to perform, but a suspension or injury leaves us open to a day like today. If he'd have at least tried Clarke or Kilner, we'd have known what our options are.

Kilner has left the club.

Wow, that’s been kept quiet and a big loss of a lad who looked an outstanding prospect.

Assume given the timing and quiet nature of his departure it is under a cloud and not an amicable one.

Worst thing that happened to us was us having a decent end to last season as it kept him in a job.

We will finish top two this season no sweat but I’d be stunned if we got a Grand Final win.

I wouldn’t be too sure about a top 2
Hull, Wire, Cas, Catalan and Huddersfield are all more than capable of turning us over.

We have great defence and fitness but for me you cannot play a full season in virtually every game where we are on the back foot for large parts of the game and struggle to make yardage

We have one prop who may become a top player the rest are average at best or next to useless

I’m a lone voice but a back row of Farrell Isa and Bateman is too small particularly in tight games where you’re front row is basically a defensive unit with little hope of go forward

Another huge error from the club. Bags of potential and will be a cracking buy for whoever has picked him up.

From what I heard he has taken up full time employment outside the game. Sadly it's one of the consequences of no reserve team rugby.

Re: Hull FC Cup Game : Sat May 08, 2021 4:11 pm
In the wet weather our issues in the forwards are exposed badly. Very difficult to shift the ball wide and allow the second rowers and centres to let the props off the hook.

Hardaker kicking two kickoffs out on the full is shameful. Surely we should have given Hastings or Smith a shot at the goal kicking at the start of the year?

Lam won't be starting Liam Byrne again any time soon.

Far too much dropped ball and ill discipline - Smithies doing exactly the same thing he did in the GF beggars belief.

Bullock probably should have been brought on sooner but he's not the saviour of our pack that some seem to think he is. Fell off the tackle on Satae and he'd been on all of 5 minutes.

Hull looked a far better rugby team and they didn't get out of 2nd gear.

We've ground some results out this year, which Lam has always been able to do in fairness. But our key issues have not changed and you don't need to be particularly insightful to see it - small forward pack, poor goal kicking and inconsistent big game performances.

Ah well, lets hope it's Warrington v Saints in the semi and Hull go on to win it. Good club, good fans.

Or the consequence of not getting picked, despite having ineffectual guys in front of him.

Tbf I don't know the lad, but this situation doesn't paint him in the best light imo. I understand that he needs to get a wage, but he's immensely talented and still young. Sport in general is littered with late bloomers that had very good careers.

He's got more potential than Bullock (he's not a better player yet tho). Go away from Wigan, but surely stay in the game and give it another year as a regular player.
