I'm not sure that Nobby and 'hard work' go well in the same sentence.

His presence was a revitalising factor. We were totally demoralised when he took over, and that wasn't the case when he left. But it wasn't Nobby's team that won the Grand Final in 2010. It was almost exactly the same players, but a totally different attitude. To not give Madge credit for that is just plain wrong.

Completely agree. If Madge goes to Hull FC or Warrington they’d win SL within 2years.

I don't think he will be going to either of these clubs anytime soon

I think Mark Bitcon's introduction was also a big factor - he came to Wigan in January 2010 I think. Previously was Mike Forshaw (where is he now?).

Also Shaun Wane became Maguire's assistant at the end of 2009. Under Noble our assistant was Phil Vievers.

Both Wane and Bitcon have gone onto much greater things than Forshaw and Vievers.

Really?

I like to think of that period as WW2, Nobby was the British doing all the hard work then in comes Madge taking all the glory ala America and then like America in future conflicts he has come unstuck

Comparing Wigan to WW2, South Sydney to the Korean War and West’s to Vietnam and you’re not on the wind up? Come on lad, it’s a laughable trolling attempt. An embarrassment even.

Maybe I should of wrote "sort of like" instead of "as"

And anyone claiming that Nobby didn't do the hard work is in cherry and white tinted cuckoo land, As I recall it was Nobby along with his signings that saved us from Relegation Not the precious one they call Madge, It was Nobby that brought us stability and built up a solid team that would eventually win the GF, Not the sainted Madge, Without the hard work that Nobby put into the team then Madge would be nothing more than Eric Hughes MK2.

Noble was good for us
Hed stagnated, and unfortunately for him he didn't get chance to see the fruits of leneghans good work in overhauling the salary cap disparity we had running through the squad.

But to say it was Nobles team that won the GF!

Ha ha ha ha !!!

I must have missed it when Madge signed 17 new players and had the club release the players who where under Nobby :SUBMISSION:
