Thought the guy deserved a thread of his own.

He's been excellent for quite a while now and his 1st try was a real wingers finish too. If Johnstone had scored that one, then the commentary would have had a gone into meltdown over it.

Just checked and he signed for a 2 year deal and it's OOC this year. A definite must for an extension IMO.

Couldn’t agree more.

Makes meters after contact which is huge the way we play, good defender and can finish.

Very valuable squad member who at times doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

Think he will push for a staring shirt this year on the wing or centre.

Only 24 too.

Could have a great Wigan career without ever being considered a super star.

He’s only 24?! Christ I had him 4 or 5 years older!

I’ve not been his biggest fan since he arrived but credit where it’s due, he’s started this season impressively.

He’s going to be the Willie Isa of the back line (discounting Isa is in the backs), By that I mean he’s doing a consistent job wherever we put him and like Isa, he’s always available when others are missing through injury. He’s durable and an invaluable squad member. It’s been a fantastic comeback from him after a poor showing in the friendly.

Long it may it continue.

He’s been our best player the first two games which is promising considering I wouldn’t have even put him in the starting 17 if everyone was fit.

The thing is he will chuck in a poor performance and there will be a thread about him panning him. For me he’s somewhere in the middle, his lack of pace probably means he will never be a star but if he can keep improving on his finishing and his all round game he is one I would definitely keep beyond this season. His versatility helps too although I think he’s showing he’s better on the wing than in the centres.
Players like Bibby and Isa are what you need in a salary cap sport, someone who will rarely let you down and compliment the stars who earn bigger wages.

Just watched it, it’s almost like he can’t believe his luck playing for the team he loves.

Seems to have a different appreciation for it compared to the lads who’ve come through the system and had the benefit of everything the club offers.

Would like to see him have a run at centre at some point as feel that’s his natural position, maybe lacking that extra gear of pace for a winger.

Killing it so far this year.

Have to hold my hand up, I was underwhelmed and quite vocal about it and was critical at times last season. I'll happily hold my hand up and say I was wrong. As someone said above, he could have a great wigan career without ever being a superstar.

He has been superb at the start of the season, probably at a time when will need him to be more than ever, due to all the injuries.

Just about to go do some work!

Re: Bibby : Fri Apr 02, 2021 10:13 am
We've had many great servants of the club over the years who maybe weren't superstars but without whom this club wouldn't have achieved the success it has. Bibby could well be one of those and I can easily see him having a long career with us. For every Hanley there needs to be a Cassidy, for every Edwards a Panapa. That's how team sports work. At 24 Bibby has his best years ahead of him. Great start to the season. Long may it continue.
