He's been excellent for quite a while now and his 1st try was a real wingers finish too. If Johnstone had scored that one, then the commentary would have had a gone into meltdown over it.

Just checked and he signed for a 2 year deal and it's OOC this year. A definite must for an extension IMO.

You know what, I agree. I didn’t see the point in him when he signed and I was less than thrilled he did in all honesty. However I am happy to say I was wrong in that and he has become a starting and must play player for us IMO.

Just a really smart signing by Wigan.

Remember his signing was met with little fanfare at the time but he was very good for Salford and has continued to progress well at Wigan whilst managing to go under the radar a bit.

Needs to lose the beard though.

We've had many great servants of the club over the years who maybe weren't superstars but without whom this club wouldn't have achieved the success it has. Bibby could well be one of those and I can easily see him having a long career with us. For every Hanley there needs to be a Cassidy, for every Edwards a Panapa. That's how team sports work. At 24 Bibby has his best years ahead of him. Great start to the season. Long may it continue.

He could be the modern day Ged Byrne.

I don't think that's a bad analogy tbh. I was thinking the same when I posted but, at 24, Bibby still has the chance to improve massively (you could argue that he is season on season) whereas we already know what we got with Byrne.

Just my opinions unless it's a FACT, in which case it's a fact.

Saw his post match interview and came across as a genuine bloke who is a bit surprised to find himself where he is. Doesn't look like your typical back but definitely effective!

Many comments mentioning his lack of pace. He doesn't seem too slow to me.

Ability to finish tries in tight spots is far more important and is something he is very good at.

Speed shouldn't be much of a factor if the team can create space, centre/FB can pass the ball in space and have supporting players on breaks / half breaks.

Without going in too hard on our fans, there's a good % who have a soft spot when it comes to "big plays". They'll (rightly) laud over Marshall when he bags highlight reel level try, but don't appreciate a game where Bibby had his opposite winger in his pocket for 80mins. There was a game last year where Bibby absolutely smothered Johnstone and I think he even dumps him into row A of the stands too.

Bibby is just a very smart and solid rugby player. He's a rock in defence, supports guys like French well and always seems available for selection.
