I only have a vague memory of the incident myself, even though I was there as a kid. But looking at it again, I see the little scrote didn't even check to see if he was okay.

When we got on the train home one bloke said "They won by a knock out". We all felt quite angry about it at the time.
There was a game at Cas a few years ago when they gave Hepworth and Hardisty an award,
They were roundly booed by Wigan fans.

That wasn't done on purpose to antagonise fans was it. Wigan fans boo etc and it's us who get branded with anything bad that comes from it.

That's horrific. I don't know what's worse, Hepworth not being sent off, or the medical attention Tyrer receives.

Did they not have touch judges in those days? I thought he was really slow to chase the kick at first, but now I'm wondering whether there was one at all, as I don't see one when Tyrer is being helped off.

Weren't they the same lovely club whose announcer nearly got in trouble for encouraging the home crowd to give the Wigan Academy team a really hard time?

To be honest my pantomime villain of the time was Sid Haynes, watched NRL 360 showed some of the old NRL brawls and a Les Boyd special

I saw it on Bilkos twitter feed recently and must admit it was the closest ive seen to a player killing another one and getting away with it! also the players was just dragged off the pitch! nowandays there the game would have stopped for about 10 minutes while medical staff put neck braces etc and there would have been time to review and send the players off and ban the player for about 6 months!
