Makes total sense in the current climate and would allow the coaches to control the game as Grimmy says by stepping in every now and again in certain circumstances.
Just to be clear, a lot of the teams are running opposed training sessions with other teams rather than with the reserves. I agree about the track and trace issue meaning the pros and cons of bringing another group of players in need to be carefully weighed up though. I'm sure it would increase the level of competition and give a genuine idea of how a defence who doesn't know what is coming will react, but like you say, increased COVID risk, plus agreeing a plan both teams are happy with if they don't just decide to play a couple of games.
