What ‘Rugby Stadiums’ do you suggest we play at? The biggest out and out rugby ground is probably Headingley (who would still get paid for hosting) and it holds about 20,000. At worst I’d imagine we’ll get 40,000 on at St James Park for the opener and hopefully it’ll be a 50,000+ full house. Yes we then pay the Stadium owners to play there but much like magic, local councils were bidding to host games on the basis that they’ll have thousands of Rugby League fans filling the hotels and bars of the city, so I’m sure it’ll be worth our while.

saints, warrington.....etc fill them get the atmosphere and can charge more, no way will we get 20k on for any world cup game

You on the wind up mate?!

In the last World Cup here in 2013 I sat at Cardiff with 40,000 other people, Wembley with 67,000 others and Old Trafford with 74,000.

As far charging more, I’m not sure you’ll be able to charge the same for a standing spot at Leigh or Saints as you can a seat at St James Park, the Emirates or Old Trafford, so it’s the opposite of what you say.

You’re wrong though. If you straight up think no game will break 20,000 you’ve lost the plot. I don’t think that game at Leigh (presuming you’re talking an England game) was a World Cup game was it? In fact I went to Tonga vs Cook Islands at Leigh in 2013 and it was pretty much full from memory. We played Ireland in the second game in 2013 in front of a full house of 24,000 at Huddersfield and Fiji at Hull in front of a full house of 25,000.

Next year (presuming it goes ahead with no restrictions) will outstrip those games IMO. Even if they don’t I’m baffled as to where any evidence is that we’d not break crowds of 20,000.

Are you referring to the midweek friendly against France when it was hammering it down? Hardly a fair comparison

Forgot what crowds are to be honest but I don’t think they were wildly different before all this. Ours were down on 2013 but other teams like Saints and Hull were up, Leeds much the same and so on.

Regardless I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the crowds at superleague level as I think the target crowds for the tournament will be made up of more than just out and out league fans who go to club games. We can’t forget this is a World Cup when talking about crowds, it isn’t a bog standard series against the Kiwis or a four nations. Even in the last series here against NZ, a team people are pretty bored of seeing us play, we had crowds of 26,000 at Anfield and 32,000 at Elland Road. We don’t have somebody like Prince Harry plugging series like that or millions in funding to market those games.

I looked at the various fixtures & I just can't get excited about any of them. & £85 for a reasonable seat at Trafford Rovers' for the final is way over the odds
