We’re about 10 weeks off the end of the season, so that’ll be one guy with a hamstring done for ten weeks +, after we lost two for about five months each. I can’t remember the last time we lost somebody with a hamstring injury for more than 4-6 weeks, so to lose three with long term injuries seems extremely unusual. I usually just think an injury crisis is simply bad luck but when you can’t think of many hamstring injuries of this severity in 30+ years watching the game, 3 in a few months sets alarm bells ringing. Much like French at Salford, Leuluai clearly couldn’t have been right to be strapped up like that from the off, Lam also mentioned Gildart felt something the day before the Leigh game but was still going to play, only to feel it again in the warm up. You have to question why he was going to be playing if he wasn’t right the day before? It would not be the first area of the club to have ‘cut its cloth accordingly’ in the last two years. The assistant/academy conditioner was the one who stepped up in this instance I think. Added the link below. We’ve ‘gone in a different direction’ according to Radlinski at the time. Might be a bit harsh to judge with the current circumstances in the last 12 months but it’s hardly been a rousing success so far. https://www.wigantoday.net/sport/rugby-league/wigan-warriors-new-fitness-chief-feels-need-speed-and-power-3076954 |
