I'm delighted for Miller, as moving to Wigan would have been a disastrous move for him if there were ever any truth in the rumour. He's a brilliant player but not a big personality, the environment at Wigan would never have worked for him. Some players belong to certain clubs, it's not an ability issue it's more a personality one.

We’ll probably do it with Hardaker but you’re right in that’s how clubs should operate. I don’t think they’d ask the earth for Miller but they’re absolutely right that they should get something to let him go. I doubt we’ll want to pay for him though and that could lead us elsewhere. The more I’ve thought about it, the more highlights I’ve watched and the more past performances against us I’ve thought back to, the more I’ve hoped it will come off. We’ve been starved of attacking entertainment this year and he is a good player to watch.

He has been let off the reigns by Poching and been outstanding.

Chester has admitted himself that he went down a path that was too structured and it didn’t get the best out of the team.

Ironic because when Trinity played their best rugby under Chester it was when Chester took over from Brian Smith who had gone down the structured path and he let them play with freedom.

With Wane back at the helm officially next year I would worry though that his preferred style which is very structured wouldn’t bring out the best in a player like Miller.

Agree with that, although it would depend who comes in as the new coach however if rumours are to be believed around that I don’t think Miller would be a good fit for Wigan.

Difficult to know what type of head coach Peet will be - bit of an unknown in that regard.

Yeah, it’ll be interesting to see what happens with the coaching set up and how Peet wants his team to play. It would be nice to think he has his own ideas and not just has them but is allowed the free reign to implement them because if not, I’m not sure why Wane wouldn’t just be brought back in as head man.

I look at the side and I see talent more suited to off the cuff rugby already and that’s before you consider somebody like Miller. You have to have some structure in your play but guys like French, Hardaker, Smith, Bateman, Pearce-Paul etc would thrive in a style that allows them a bit of free reign, something similar to how Tony Smith gets his teams playing.

Agree, I just hope the shadow of Wane doesn’t sit too long over his reign.

Wane is a wonderful coach and no disrespect intended I just hope Peet is his own man in whatever way he implements his philosophy onto the team.

Yes - not got the best feeling about this new set up. Essentially having two people in charge has rarely worked well in sport.

I really don’t understand the Peet appointment, I’m not against promoting from within and it certainly worked well with Wane but he was an assistant to a successful coach who had success and was leaving for a bigger challenge not someone who has not been retained off the back of one of the worst seasons in recent memory. I think you push the assistant up if you want continuity but that’s not what we want, we need a big change. Peet was also unsuccessful at Sale when taking a main role and apparently made a bad impression.
The only thing that’s giving me hope is he is more to do with the defensive side of things as a coach and we've stayed pretty solid the last few years, it’s the attack that’s been woeful.

What Wigan need is a experienced Coach from outside the club and not a unknown from within with no experience of coaching a top club like Wigan.
