Hardaker could well depart and have another club for 2022. Commuting from Pontefract to Wigan to the end of his contract next year doesn't seem practical. No doubt he'll give his all for us until the season's end but I'd expect him to be playing for a club near to his home come 2022.

Someone mentioned Hankinson is still contracted to us for next year so maybe he'll get the 3 shirt and solve the goal kicking duties as well. Should Miller arrive then I'd expect Harry S and him to be half backs. Tommy to retire so his overseas slot will be available. Not an ideal scenario but we should go ok next year. Hastings will be the big miss for 2022.

Horrendous deal if that happens. I’m not down on Miller, I’ve always watched him and thought he has plenty of talent but we’re struggling with the quota as it is. Good quality, British outside backs are in short supply and to lose one in a trade for a decent overseas halfback isn’t business we should be entertaining.

I’m reading between the lines a bit but the travelling can’t be ideal and now he has become a Dad he is likely to want to spend less time commuting.

Can’t say I know too much about Miller.

I’ve said before Hardaker can choose how he gets to training/where he lives etc but to me he’s under contract and should be held to it. That viewpoint is mainly from the fact it’s next to impossible to replace him because we have no quota spots. If that puts an end to any chance of getting Miller than fair enough for me. I’m pretty confident we could get an overseas halfback from the NRL who will have as much chance as Miller does at being successful here. I doubt we’ll be able to get in an English centre at this stage who can perform to Hardakers level.

If ZH wants to leave, then I'd rather see the club trying to use him to get a player of either equal value, or potential, than just flat refusing to release him. No one benefits from that.

ZH + a bit of cash for Wardle as an example. I'd be happy with that.

It's time the club start to be more football, or NRL like in their approach. How many times have we been on the receiving end of NRL clubs rocking the boat for our best lads? KR can start to turn the head of a Wardle. Let it be known we're interested & get him to start forcing a move. Thinking about it, that's probably what ZH is doing to us now.

Certainly not against a swap deal but it’s got to be the right one. We all know how good Hardaker can be, so to get a player of equal quality is tough. If we’re taking it to be Cas or Wakey, then I’d be looking for Trueman, Johnstone or possibly because we need a British centre, Reece Lyne. I’d even be wary on Johnstone because of his injury troubles. I think it would be next to impossible to get Wardle out of Huddersfield with how they’re building tbh. You don’t hear rumours of Huddersfield being in for Hardaker, so if it’s straight cash they’d want plenty.

If that deal could be delivered it would be great business for us
This is where I was hoping Danson would help out

Possibly, but I do think ZH is good enough to make teams sit up and take notice. There's no talk of them being in for him, but it's a whole different ball game being offered him + cash.

Had it on very good authority that Lee Briers will be at Wigan next season in an assistant coach capacity. Along with a bloke called Jack who is a stats man from Warrington.

If Miller is to arrive without any involvement of Hardaker then should Zac want to leave and we insisted on a swap then my option, if he went to Cas, would be Liam Watts. An over 30 prop who can provide plenty of experience and power.

As for Briers, I'd be very pleased if he was at Wigan as an asst coach next year.
