Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions

Thought it was a good decision to rest Ainscough today. He's had a good run in the team and it will keep him hungry for first team rugby - not that I doubt he is lacking enthusiasm, quite the opposite in fact!

To me, Wigan is the biggest Club in Rugby League and it will be an honour to pull on the famous Cherry-and-White jersey next year. I look forward to working with Shaun Wane and the players at Wigan.”

I don't think that will ever be a problem for him.

Exactly.

People need not over-react to the decision, its one that makes perfect sense.

Asked about Shaun Ainscough's absence, Brian told us,

"He is fine, that element of duty of care we have for players is important, whilst he is scoring all those tries it is exciting but there are parts of his game he needs to work on, as there are with other players. I wanted to see Roberts, Richards and Phelps which offered a lot of threat for us but he will be back

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

As I posted on another thread BEFORE the game. Ainscough has done well, but has made major errors that need to be removed from his game. Today was an ideal game to give both him and Sam a bit of a rest.

I personally can't see anything wrong with it tbf.

Everyone including Noble knows who our best/liveliest winger has been this season and I’m sure resting him this week won’t change anything.

Phelps had a strong game against Saints, Richards is out of sorts this season due to injury & swapping between FB and wing so Celtic was the perfect game for them to get some game time and confidence.

Maybe Roberts has been lucky but again I think out of the two of him and Ainscough he’s the one who needs to get a confidence boost and score a few tries.

I’d rather Noble have a look at other options in a game like this than having them forced on him in games like Saints or Leeds.

Both are being introduced to first team rugby and will need to be rested in games we can afford too. Rest vs Celtic at home or against a bigger side which will be a closer game?

The latter I would have thought unless of course Noble thinks he needs to play these two against the stronger teams. Tomkins played most of the game anyway but it seemed an odd choice to me as playing Ainscough would have given Richards another weeks recovery time.

Not that tripe again. It was only a couple of weeks ago it was "it doesn't matter how old you it's how you play that counts" (or words to that effect) while talking about Ainscough. He needs to make his mind up.

If he had just said he wanted to try out a different combination, fair enough but this duty of care thing is a load of baloney IMO.
