THE SIMPLE TRUTH! : Sat Feb 21, 2009 6:33 pm
The facts are the facts! when Wigan where on top of the world they had..
the best players
the most money to spend on players
more great britain players than any other club
the best coaches
the best chairman
the best crowds
the best away following crowds
I could go on and on but....

the reason why Saints and Leeds have overtook Wigan is that they have simply been better than Wigan at recruiting better players and also have had very little injuries during the past 3 or 4 years the answer is very simple the salary cap has ruined Wigan's plans to back at number one again.
Look at premier league football for example if man utd chelsea arsenal etc had to oblige by a salery cap it would be possible that another team that recruits the better players than those 3 would be top!

Leeds and Saints have a team who sing of the same hymn sheet we simply have 13 players playing for themselves.

I'd say a few of those are stealing a living at Wigan.

George Bush says 'we are losing the war on drugs'. Well you know what that implies? There's a war going on, and people on drugs are winning it! Well what does that tell you about drugs? Some smart, creative motherfookers on that side."

Why is the league being fairer a problem. Leeds have managed to stick to the cap and have had great success. I dont see why wigan fans seem to think they have to blow a huge budget to win. Dont forget the club had huge debts during the glory years. Any way as a Cas fan i dont care how much you spend as we seem pretty good at beating you!

and wasn`t it boring, even for you lot.Nobody wants the days when one team dominated for so long, hence one of the reasons the cap was introduced.

Wigan had more money to spend and it bankrupted the club in the end resulting in the loss of Central Park.

The reason why the club is in the position it is boils down to bad management at board level during the pre Super League era and the very early Super League era. The club was highly successful but went for broke to maintain success which it could no longer do and as soon as there was a slip in form everything came down like one of Fred Dibnah's chimneys.
Not only did the club lose its famous stadium which was a fortress, it moved into the mentality of sacking coaches every two years or less.
No club who repeatedly sacks the coach/manager is ever going to be a success. Some sacking were probably deserved others were clearly not.

I very much doubt if the 13 on show on Friday had ever played together even in training.

certainly doesnt help - we need to pick the best team (irrespective of age) and play them week in and week out.

what use is it saving a youngster for the future if they then get miffed at lack of game time and then leave for another SL club or RU. better to play them and burn them out, as happened with fielden and no doubt will happen to Graham at Saints (probably after we break the bank and sign him too!)
