Hull last Friday played Paul King, Thakray & Manu.
What state do you think Sam Tomkins would be in today if he'd been played with those three facing him?
Get real, its tough out there.
Forwards aren't 5'8" anymore they're 6'2" plus and aggresive with it.
They will pick the right games for Sam and Cas at home is one.
More likely though is he will get his chance due to injuries.

So do Cas only have 5'8" forwards then?

Personally I think the lad should be on the bench whether its 6ft 2 forwards or whatever. Shaun Edwards for example was put in the first team at 17. Ok they game may have got tougher but so what.

5 tries on debut has never been done by a Wigan player and I doubt anyone has got an hatrick in 12 minutes either. Fair enough it was Whitehaven but now Barrett is gone he deserves a chance.

Rob Burrow was a Leeds regular at 20 (albeit off the bench with 19 of his 24 appearances in 2002). Danny McGuire did similar at 21 in 2003. So it's the right time to get him on the bench in my view.

Need to do something because this season so far our bench is doing nothing but giving us more of the same!

Absolute nonsense.

Wakefield at home was the right game if ever there was one.

As for the size of the forwards at Hull, are you telling me that Sargent, Faumuina and Feather are lightweights? Maybe the Cas game isn't a good one.

Best to wait for the Quins game... ..but hang on, what about Temata, LMS, Ward etc. Not Quins then.

Maybe against the Bulls because Solomona, Lynch and Burgess won't target him... ahhh, not the Bulls then.

Perhaps the Leeds game.... ...perhaps not.

The Salford game then, they'll be easy with the likes of Stapleton, Leuluai and Cashmere. Oh dear!

Second thoughts, lets not play him at all, lets wrap him up in cotton wool and keep him in the Reserves until he's 23/24 and if he's no bigger lets fire him off.

The forwards are going to be 6'2" and 16 stone plus in any SL game Sam plays.

If he isn't physically up to the job now, he probably never will be. Edwards, Horne, Burrow, Briers etc. Not a pick on any of them until they were a few years older than Sam is now and all playing top flight at 20.

Are you suggesting that he should only play if he puts 5 kilos on? Or if the other team only has a small pack? Having said that, what if they have a big stand off or centre? Or maybe somebody like Tupou on the wing? Second thoughts, lets not play him at all.

Sam Tomkins has been targeted in every game he has played in for years. He is used to it.

The only way we'll ever find out if Sam is up to the job is for him to play and at this time we have a team that is in desperate need of a stand-off. He should be played or loaned out.

Lenagan needs to get Noble into his office for a chat and ask him if the likes of Tomkins and Ainscough are in his first team plans at all. If they aren't and he'd rather shift the side around by playing say Bailey at centre or Lockers at 6 we may aswell let them both go out on a season long loan with the option of bringing them back at 24hrs notice because playing in our reserves will do them no good.

This could be a big weekend for both the lads i mentioned as if we are missing players through injury they'll get to see just where they stand.

Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.

I am quite pleased Phelps, Bailey, Riddell picked up injuries, hope they dont play this week to give Sam Tomkins, Mossop and Ainscough a game to see gow they fare, if any of them rip it up I would keep them in next week too.

I can't see Mossop playing we already have Hock, O'Louglin, Hansen and Joel Tomkins.
