You’ve obviously never played the game if you think the players player of the year means someone who tries hard. It’s the person who the players think has been the best player, or at least that’s what it’s meant in every team I’ve played and coached in over the last 30 years. You’re maybe getting confused with a “clubman” award which often goes to those types of players you’re referring to.

I didn’t once claim he has been appointed the captain or vice captain, I said he has captained them, which is true.

played the game for 20 years so know what it means, its the player who tries the hardest, so we saying the players at maley think hes better than DCE or the Trbojevic brothers? really?? , clubman normally goes to people who go the extra mile and normally so outreach programmes from the club, you said he captained them when DCE wasnt, I said no he didnt as Trbojevic did as hes the vc, his cv? what has he done? been released early from most of his contracts? or playing for the indigenous all stars which as a miss match of a team that often just put people anywhere

The likes of DCE can't do anything without a solid pack performance. Maybe that's why his fellow players voted for him? The old "if he plays well, we play well" argument.

I don't know much about him but the players player is usually a prestigous award to the players themselves. Our last few winners have included Lockers, Bateman, Zak and Sam Powell for example.

James Graham back to Saints.

Was always on the cards especially with them needing a bit PR exercise after losing Thompson.

I don’t think it’s a good move for club or player.

Take the emotion and history out of it I’m not sure they would sign him.

I think Graham will find a bit more inside himself playing for Saints than he’s been able to in the week to week intensity of the NRL but ultimately it’ll be a pretty big downgrade for Saints. He has been a warrior of the game and you can’t help admire him and what he’s achieved. Sadly when you watch him now he looks well past his best but he’ll still be one of the better props in this league.

He will still go well for a year or two yet , still fit and works overtime and can play the ball handling prop role as well , not many can do that these days .

Hard to be confident about either his longevity or how close he can get to the player of a couple of years ago, but

Even so, the direction of travel is that SL is haemorrhaging the best talent to the NRL and it seems to be getting worse. Under the circumstances it's hard to see a better short term option for Saints. If I were in their position, I'd be disappointed to see him go to a Hull, Leeds or Wire rather than come back, even if there's a pretty big risk to the signing.

I think he will be a better signing for them off the field than on it.

I’m sure he will go ok don’t get me wrong but he is a shadow of the player he was but that leadership he will bring can possibly help steady a ship that looks like it may be entering a bit of a transitional period.

Widely documented the change in attitude he brought to both Canterbury and St George when he signed for them.
