I doubt there’s a tougher player in the game than Lomax with what he’s been through injury wise and as a kid.
Continually takes the line on and gets hit late yet an opposition player is never cited nor banned. He’s one tough bugger.
There was a lot of verbals and niggles in that game on Friday with Walters being the prime offender. Seems like he spat his dummy out after the Saints players goaded him after he threw the ball in touch from his flick pass.
Looks like Lomax got caught up in it. If he’s kept quiet whilst a player has been wrongly sent off then so what.
It’s called gaining a competitive advantage.
Matautia wasn’t banned either. I’m surprised he was even charged bearing in mind the initial contact was above the knee.
Good to see Saints making all the headlines again. Keep them coming.

I get the ‘I expect better from you’ line now and again and I think that’s because I’m reasonably balanced and fair most of the time but I can’t just say opposition fans want to hear all of the time. I have total respect for how Lomax has overcome injuries and managed to cut a fantastic career. It doesn’t take away the fact he has a liking for staying down on the floor multiple times a season, looking like he’s done for, only to get up and crack on. If it happened ‘now and again’ I’d think that was a bloke showing total bravery, but it happens that often that he looks to be trying it on most of the time. I’ve covered it previously that I’ve felt he’s been a leader of Woolf’s ‘tactical rests’ and I stick by that. A side who plays at the most incredible intensity you could see, needs to recharge the batteries mid game and a large number of knocks, requiring stoppages has played its part.
As for this incident. I thought he looked a bit of a prat on the night tbh and that rings true now. He was prepared to get in to Walters and that’s fair enough (Walters had been giving it himself) but I’d have expected an experienced head like that to be calming the situation down, not pouring petrol on the fire and then seemingly lying about what went on. The things I’ve described throughout this post aren’t things I see Roby doing for example. That is a total and utter class act and a player who is genuinely as tough as I’ve seen.
