Just because he's been out of the side for a few weeks doesn't mean he should be shown the door - some people adopt very short-term views.

Goulding's a very solid player and was championed towards the end of last year as the most improved player in the side. He'll never set the place alight but an extremely useful player to have in your squad.

It doesnt all just boil down to that though, what if Goulding is not happy just being a squad player? He signed his 3 year deal as a Grand Final winner, 2nd top try scorer in SL and an England international with his future ahead looking great at Wigan. Now he cant get in the team. If he has ambitions he will want to be playing Super League week in week out and its not fair on him sticking him in the under 20's because he is too good for that. Maybe if Wigan dont want to let him go, a Loan deal would suffice.

Goulding was talked out of leaving Wigan once before when he was unhappy at apparently having fallen out of favour. If he'd not listened to IFL and had left the club, he would have missed out on a fantastic season and a Grand Final winner's ring. It would quite possibly have been the biggest mistake of his, or anyone else's, entire career.

Is he going to make a similar mistake now?

He's already had it proved to him that if he can find the adequate form he will be a regular fixture in the Wigan first team.

I guess it's his call but I hope he heeds advice from the right sort of people, and not those who seem to persistantly hang around the Wigan junior ranks, encouraging youngsters to leave because "they are not valued".

Would like to see Deacon do another year personally, IMO he was far more instrumental in last years championship winning team than he was given credit for. If he feels he can play on I'd be happy for him to do so, gives the younger players another year to mature, maybe they could play a few games if deacon was rested, meaning they aren't thrown in the deep end?

Tony Clubb: "This is a new exciting chapter of my life signing for Wigan and I couldn't be happier" 18/10/2013

Romain Navarrete: “I’m very happy to have signed for Wigan Warriors. As soon I knew that Wigan were interested, they were the only team that I wanted to sign for. To me, Wigan is the biggest Club in Rugby League and it will be an honour to pull on the famous Cherry-and-White jersey next year. I look forward to working with Shaun Wane and the players at Wigan.”

No doubt, Deacs has the best kicking game of all our players. Tommy couldn't kick to save his life, Lockers and Sam do their best, Mickey Mac seems hesitant. As it's so important, I'd like to see Deacs stay on and spend time teaching the future lads some skills.

I totally agree but I cant see us getting another yearout of him. It is no coincidence that we have looked much better in attack since he returned from injury. We just have a much better balance when he is in the team.

Not a chance. He is dire in the centres.

He is hardly dire in the centres and played centre for England at every level underage level. I also know that Shaun Wane rates him highly there. He played 2 games in the centre last season and was very good in them both of them, particularly the Hull game which may have been his best performance of the season. In his only game this year at centre this year he did nothing wrong either. He has never really had a regular run at centre and hasnt played there much at all since a teenager. Even then though I saw him have some very good games where he outplayed the likes of Senior and Hape.

I cant believe that some are writing him off already just because he has missed a few games. He has though always been one of the favourite scapegoats of some on here so it is hardly too surprising. He had a poor game against Catalan where he went off injured early on and due to the form of the team and Charnley hasnt got his place back which is fair enough and is no different than what happened last season with Goulding/Roberts/Pryce. Prior to this he has had Marsh inside him and has barely got a pass or opportunity all season. When he has though, such as against Leeds, he has finished and played well. It is a long season and there is a long way to go before writing off a Goulding yet, particularly when some where doing the exact same this time last year and we all know what happened after that.

I really hope Goulding isn't played in the centres next year, even if we don't sign anybody there will still be Joel for one spot and Charnley and Pryce to battle over the other. Keep Goulding on the wing.

Don't you mean Marsh?
I would be very surprised if Pryce was a Wigan player next year.

Absolutely, surely the fact he was allowed to play against his parent club whilst on loan, together with his actual performance in that game, is a clear signal his Wigan career is over. Makes you wonder why we bothered signing him up for another year.
