I see Sarge is still in the UK...
Is he injured? I saw the trouble he's been in with the law.
Is there any suggestion he's coming back for good, to SL?

That is the problem. Non of them could step into his shoes before the end of the season, although Forsyth showed some promise. He (Gelling) is now a seasoned professional who at their ages was still a raw would be second row with poor social skills. Higginson has been held back by that bad injury but if he can regain the ability he previously had he could be useful.

He's recovering from a bad shoulder injury iirc. With the fuss that's kicked up over his run in with the Aussies law, I presume Gold Coast have just let him get away from it all. I can't see him coming back yet but if he is then he'd be ideal for our squad. We've missed his versatility this season.

No way would I want to see the back of Gelling. OK he comes up with daft errors occasionally but he also makes tons of hard yards and is well capable of being a game-breaker as he was a few times last season. I suspect bigger names than Widnes would be after him if we did let him go.

I disagree though, I don't think any of the teams above us (Cas, Hull, Leeds, Saints, Salford, Wakey) would be interested. Maybe Salford to replace Welham.

He just doesn't match up to what they have, and in my opinion, what we actually need. Fonua, Percival, Shenton, Sau, Moon etc are all far superior in the centre position.

Wouldn't want to split hairs, but wouldn't say any of them are far superior. More orthodox, probably. Think Gelling would be good for a spot in most of their teams too, I wouldn't swap him for Morgan, Webster etc.
