No, I watched the same game. I also watched last week, and the week before that and many games before that. I may be new to the forum but I have followed Wigan for quite some time.
You can throw the stats at me all you like, yes he managed 200m gains, he carried nearly 30 times, but against a weak Leeds left side Kleinhorst still managed to contain him for most of the 80 minutes...Davies did more in my eyes. He made no notable breaks and as I originally said, barring the offload to TD for the try, he was average.
The one stat your not mentioning is his personal error count or penalty count. Against that Leeds side last night, he was nothing remarkable, against Warrington the week before he wasn't good at all...he has not had one good game since returning and I stand by my comment, he has lost the pace and impact (for a big centre) that he had prior to his injury. He makes errors (most of which unforced) way too much. I don't doubt he is a good centre, I just think he will suit being a star player in a side like Widnes more.
My opinion, and it is just that I might add, is that I would much rather have a right sided Gildart, Percival, Fonua type centre than Gelling. You are all entitled to your own, if Gelling is your cup of tea then sound. But my post was far from ridiculous.
