The fallout that Rouges is mentioning is from the tax scams that clubs went in for. Image Rights, ebt's etc. The RFL approved their use but Whelan wouldn't allow Wigan to use them until, I believe, the latter days of his ownership.
If HMRC get their way some clubs will be in trouble big time. That the RFL approved the use of these scams without foreseeing the consequences suggests they are people not capable or fit to run the salary cap. It also call into question clubs who vote in a salary cap, then go in for tax scams that in the end could cost them untold amounts of money.
The monitoring and running of the cap has been complete nonsense from the day it was introduced. As I mentioned, some clubs could be in serious financial trouble if the HMRC get their way.
Is this theory applicabble to the Premier League, Football League and RFU?

Taken from elsewhere, but in short
Leeds Rhinos continue to fight the HMRC, for what could cost the club an estimated £2m in unpaid taxes. The tax bill is concerning the controversial use of image rights to pay high earning Australians.
Leeds have taken this case on, because of the perceived unfairness in which the taxman is accused of favouring certain sports, RU are now allowed to pay 15% as a whole, but HMRC are requesting RL clubs pay players less in image rights, (leaving League clubs with a larger tax bill backdated to 2001), stating that RL does not offer the same image publicity as sports such as football and Union.
Just what I said! The union players on Leeds books promo the business very little the rhinos players promo the business in a big way! The rules HMRC have made up just don't stand up Leeds can prove that by how marketable the rhinos players are compared to the tykes. Massive win for Leeds. Massive fail by HMRC

Oh? Can you suggest in which direction HMRC will might be looking? More importantly (and somewhat selfishly), are they looking towards Loire Drive for any particular reason?
The other year the auditors of one super league club wouldn’t approve the club’s accounts without a specific reference to that club being under investigation by the HMRC being included in the issued accounts.
Yes we know all about Leeds Rhinos/Tykes etc and the test case. That the HMRC would come back over image rights etc was predicted and the prediction fulfilled. Whatever the perceived rights and wrongs of the case the way and the extent that the scams were used was wholly wrong. HMRC were against image rights from the start but lost cases against a number of soccer players. It was inevitable they would come back, Whelan knew this and so did everyone else. It will be interesting to see the test case outcome and the consequences if Leeds lose. Which for RL's sake I hope they don't.

Leeds won't lose, if they did the would just pay the 2 mill. There is no fraud here it's not a criminal case. It's the other sl clubs who will go to the wall Leeds have the cash to clear the situation up I would think the others don't.
