A Sarginson type cover signing would have covered that area.

I'd expect Forsyth or Higginson to the wing (or Escare once Tomkins returns) with Burgess moving to centre. I can't see us having the room to bring in someone suitably experienced, even if such a player was available and willing to sign as a backup. Burgess has done well when he has played centre and has all the tools, particularly now that the emphasis for a centre tends to be on athleticism.

Cas have apparently turned down 3 offers for Solomona: 2 from Union and 1 from League, and apparently we were the club from League. Be interesting to know if this was before or after we re-signed Burgess.

I saw that article and it did mention us as making enquiries earlier in the year but then I sensed it was saying the bid was from another club (it wasn't very clear).

Wire apparently made a bid recently but now they're being linked with a couple of NRL backs.

Unless we see Manfredi or Burgess as full-backs long term, investing in Solomona is pointless. I'd rather we threw money at a decent left centre or goal kicking 13.

The Times says we "put out feelers" to see if Chris Ashton fancied returning to Super League. Apparently he turned us down as the chance to play a "fluid style of rugby" under Mike Ford in France was too good to resist (and possibly £1.3 million over 3 years after tax may have had something to do with it)

Yep. Perhaps Mike will do for Chris Ashton what he did for Sam Burgess ... put his career back three years.

But at that price, I suspect Chris won't care.
