Seeing Amos at full back with Goulding on the wing, i cant help but think this is probably the way that wigan will line up next season, meaning phelps may be one of the players to make way.

That would also allow ainscough back in to the fold as direct competion with goulding for the wing slot. Given the shenton rumours to replace george the back line would have a much more british feel about it

Well Cameron Phelps looked fit enough to play in both the Saints game and today's match from what I saw of him in the warm up. That suggests to me he has been dropped and can't earn him place back due to the good form of Goulding, Roberts and Richards.

Although I don't think next season we will lineup with Goulding on the wing, he is doing a fantastic job and has proven to me he is more than capable of filling in when required. He can field the high kicks, has good positioning, makes some metres when bringing the ball back, he has pace and can finish off tries. I would even go as far as saying I feel much safer with Goulding under the high ball than I would Shaun Ainscough.

I agree with the comments re Goulding. He's been asked to do a job and he's done it will minimal fuss and with the odd moment of class/brilliance

Whilst he's had little if any issues under the high ball I also don't think he's been sounded out in the same way Ainscough was last season. Whilst i think Goulding would perform better under the high ball I'm also shocked that teams haven't tested him a little more.

Let's face it you don't wanna be kicking to either Pat or Amos
but yet teams still seem to do it?

Reading between the lines, it appears as though it's a straight shoot out between us and Saints for both Shenton and Luke Bailey? It'll be interesting to see where both go.

Don't know where they'll end up but if they do go to Saints, its shouldn't be construed as Lenagan missing out on the big names again. We have a large group of quality, hungry, young players and any new recruits have to be right in every way for us to consider paying decent money for them. Saints probably need to recruit from outside more than we do.

If Carmont, Bailey & potentially 2-3 other players where to leave.

Shenton & Bailey would be must have players for me.

IL has to sieze opportunties to improve the squad from outside the club where possible, this is one such occasion.

I think Shenton in for Carmont would be a good deal, where that'd leave Goulding and some of the other youngsters I don't know.

As for Luke Bailey, Fielden and Coley have both been playing really well, and I wouldn't hesitate in rewarding them both with 1 year deals if their current form continues. If any anyone in the frontrow looks to be leaving it'd be Feka, but time will tell I suppose.

It's still a little to early for me to say who we should and shouldn't keep.
