Agree pretty much with NSW, yeah, we weren't great, and Shorrocks struggling in particular in the first half, but in the second half when he mishandled that pass, he at least recovered and put in a telling kick to force a drop-out, from which we eventually scored a try. We'll have Cust and Hampshire back soon enough. We'd all have bitten the hand off for one defeat and three wins from the last four games.
I think Harry Smith lacks that bit of innovation and subtlety close to the line. In hindsight Peet may as well have put Hampshire on the bench considering Nsemba was only trusted to play a couple of minutes.
He definitely needs to work hard on his game close to the opposition line. He’s been fantastic for us this season and is developing his game nicely but everyone has things to work on.
2 tries each in terrible conditions with 7 first teamers missing (Hull missing just Hoy) after 6 of our best players played just 5 days ago, after winning 6 games in a row including Saints and Wire.
People need perspective.
Terrible conditions but both teams gave it there all. As a FC fan over the moon we won. You will be up there end of season . As well as Hoy we where missing Swift Savellio plus Trueman first match in nearly a year. Fair play to your fans who made the trip. Hats of to them
It's a loss but one that requires perspective. First up though, we'll done Hull. A gutsy performance where I think even their own fans would concede they were 2nd best in everything but where it mattered...on the scoreboard. Ultimately that win will do them a lot of good.
On Wigan, we had 7 players out, a back row playing 6 (more on that later) terrible conditions after going 14 down, 6 of our best playing their second game of the week and playing off the back of a major peak over the 3 derbies and we still did enough to win 2 games, never mind that one! It's a blip, not a sign of where we are.
That said, the Shorrocks at 6 stop gap has run its course. He has done brilliantly and probably deserved to hang on to his place but that should be that now. Hampshire is fit and Cust is not far off. Joe deserves to contest his place in the back row, both for himself and the team, but we can't keep going into games with no attacking threat in the halves. Smith is a terrific controlling half and, paired with running threats a la the England game he's top draw. But without that threat, his effectiveness is reduced. French gives us that but he's currently the only one so it's easy to mark him out of the game as Hull did very effectively tonight. Moreso in bad conditions.
Overall 2 points dropped but nothing significant with regards to the rest of the season. Good to see Thornley in such good form so quickly after coming back too. Let's hope Hampshire follows suit!
What a weird post? How could he drop a ball? Tell you what he can and did do however - he can ignore two dropped balls from Hull, one of which lead directly up to their 1st try. He can also fabricate high shots and give them 2 points too.
Chicken and egg. We might have missed a few tackles, but also we shouldn't have been 10 out from our own line. We should have been 10 out from theirs with attacking ball. Big difference and all down to one see you next Tuesday in pink.
The two points were not from a 'high' shot!!! It was Harry Smith offside + he told him not to get involved. It's those cranks on punditry that said it was a high shot

He could do with a bit of help. Everything comes through Smith at the moment, if we are to compete for the top prizes then we need an effective 6. Hampshire now needs to get a run. Plus, our passing from dummy half has to be much better.
No but he was horrific though. Poor calls on both sides.
He was poor, for both teams, admittedly. How he can ignore French's stud first tackle to try to prevent Clifford's try, was baffling , when he pulled up innocuous tackles, against both teams and the ruck was atrociously slow, with both teams seemingly given free reign to ignore the 6 again rule. I wouldn't be too worried, we had Hoy, Swift, Savelio, Vulkijipiani all missing, who would have improved us, and had the luxury of a long rest, whereas you had a plethora of talent missing, players back from international duty, and still could and should have beaten us, given the second half territorial advantage you held. The weather definitely levelled things up and we will take a win against Wigan, any year but particularly this one.
