Plenty to come from Sarginson IMO. It's never easy early in the year in poor conditions to be a creative centre but I expect that side of his game to improve as we hit the warmer months. His workrate in attack and defence certainly can't be questioned. I'm not convinced he's ready for an NRL move yet but I do see him as the type who will thrive on bigger occasions.
He seems to have had a lot of stick this week on social media with his ability to play in the NRL questioned but I think he's a good player. We shouldn't forget he's feeling his way back in after a long injury as well.
Generally I don't disagree, but I get so fed up with the same players being linked over and over again with moves to other clubs.
It really does put a questionmark against that player's loyalty in my book, because a lot of these rumours are wishful thinking or "come-and-get-me" messages, and they either stem from the players themselves or from the agents (with the players' approval).
I understand that players have a short career, need to look after themselves and their families etc. But by the same token, players who want to leave should understand in return that we are Wigan fans first and foremost and so reserve the right to be critical of personnel who don't look like they're nailed to the mast.
At present, I find it hard to think of a Wigan player less suited to the NRL than Dan Sarginson. What on Earth has he done in recent years that would attract clubs of that calibre? I wouldn't be at all surprised if this story is utter piffle.
