It's a real weird one, obviously chuffed to win the game and the cup - but we were poor overall and probably didn't deserve to win the game. That said, our defence was good, other than Marshall getting bumped off, but Jerry has done that to most wingers in SL.
We have a lot of improvement in us, just cutting out the silly errors and unforced errors will improve us massively.
Celebrate the win, great for the team and what we are trying to build, great achievement in our 150th anniversary year also.
I wouldn’t say we didn’t deserve to win, I think it would be fair to say Huddersfield were the better side overall and deserved the win.
From our point of view errors and poor discipline nearly cost us. We did well to stay in there and took our chance when it really mattered. I’m chuffed for Harry Smith, that will do him the world of good.
From a Huddersfield point of view I thought their negative tactics cost them. I think there were 4 or 5 occasions they just took the last tackle on our line while only 2 points ahead. They tried to shut the game down and failed. They really should have been looking for a score or repeat set and playing to put the game to bed.
All in all, none of the above really matters, we won and I’m opening a bottle of fizz to celebrate.
As for Matty Peet, I’m immensely proud to have him as our head coach. He consistently demonstrates honesty and integrity, a true leader.
