He's not played in a SL or Cup game yet and were not going to throw him into the deep end against Saints in the Magic Weekend or maybe even in the WCC (if we get there)

I agree, he should be given the number 6 jersey straight away. But i would give him a run in the 1st team to see how he goes on, he deserves it after his impressive stint at Widnes

Agree totally. Whats the worst that can happen? We only have to virtually turn up to get in the playoffs with the stupid system in place at the moment so i cant see we lose a great deal if it doesnt work straight away. The lad deserves a shot for my money. Certainly in a few games against lesser teams at the very least.

It will only give the lad confidence as we have shown so much faith in him. I'd do the same for Crosby, in the games i've seen when he's been playing for Widnes, he's carried their pack with some very, very impressive performances.

He played three or four games for them. Played in in their victory over Saints at the beginning of the season.

Well i suppose our new coach could get the sack!

Whoever takes over from madge has big shoes to fill and it will be interesting to see what happens if we go on a significant losing run - how patient will Ian Lenagan be and how patient will the fans be?

Why shouldn't Mellor be given a chance straight away next season? Saints albeit forced did it this season with new halfback partnership of Gaskell and Lonax and that decision has been vindicated with 2 fantastic youngsters forging a great partnership. Mellor should start next season as it will be even more of a problem when Leuluai and potentially Finch leave at end of 2012. Then we would bring Powell through with a full season under Mellors belt we will be ok

Sam to Saracens? I suspect its 99% bullshit, but what I got told today.

Either way, im hoping IL realises we cant progress as a team without a centre/winger and a halfback, and possibly a prop.
